About halfway through season five of the crown and it's probably not as good as season four but idk I think all the press was way overblown like. The show has always had a "the monarchy as a system is destructive to the people inside it" angle to it despite being extremely sympathetic to the characters and that hasn't changed. It's not trying to be a documentary, it's largely a character exploration of characters that are hard to know. The politics of it are mildly liberal at best.

The British media is way overreacting honestly. The real life monarchy isn't going to go down because of a Netflix show, if it goes down it's because Charles just kinda sucks and the people don't want it anymore- that's basically the only way for it to go at this point. It would have to be voted out on a referendum. So if that happens, it's not going to be because a TV show reminded people about camillagate. There's like, real problems that the Brits are dealing with right now, reliving the 90s isn't one of them.
