So I went to Galaxycon...and im immediately seeing alot of discussion about how bad the con was from over crowding to abelist behavior from staff to lack of proper security and I can 100% confirm the things being talked about.
My own experience was bad the first day was fine since not a lot of people were wandering th con hall but Saturday oof.
Saturday I was up early cause I was Shanks and wanted to go to the One Piece photo shoot and they didnt have anyone to manage the photo shoot area there was only the photographer and I felt so bad for the guy cause there was a lot of one piece cosplayers it was chaotic even with my friend stepping up to try and get it to run smoothly.
Now as far as props...no one not a single damn person had tags on their weapon props including me which I found super unsafe. It wasnt until half the day passed and a staff member I hadn't seen stopped me and I happily went over and had them take my sword and check it. Another instance was watching security let someone through with an actual switch blade and a few others with pepper spray which I get pepper spray for protection but having witnessed multiple instances of people using pepper spray just to attack someone at cons I dont think that should even be allowed in the con center and it sucks that shitty people ruin things that many of us use as protection.
I also saw multiple mobility aids zip tied which was heart breaking because you could see them struggling without their aid.
Now lines for meet and greets were even worse they allowed people to cut in front of people that had been waiting for HOURS and thanks to that me and many others didnt get to meet Mathew even though we had been waiting well before the others they let cut in and these weren't people that had tickets from the previous day that were and line and didnt get to meet him. No these were people with one day badges that just came up and cut infront of people including those with tickets from the cut off the previous day. I have been trying to meet that man for 10 cons and never got the chance and now I can make it 11 cons of not meeting him because of a poorly run con.
Saturday evening I did albedo from overlord and that was not pleasant. I can normally wear heels for extended periods of time without an issue but unfortunately with the other crowding and lack of people having spacial awareness I was nocked into multiple times and at one point was nocked to the floor and almost trampled. If it wasnt for another cosplayer noticing and hauling me to my feet and making sure I was alright I would have been pribaly sustained injuries from people not paying attention.
