Bellatrix Black has always been a name that installed fear in people. The eldest of three siblings, Bellatrix strived to prove to their father that he didn’t the stereotypical heir when he had them to take control. From a young age, Bellatrix learned to be ruthless and cruel, to not let anyone stand in their way. The only people Bellatrix truly cared about were their siblings. They were the most important things in their life. And they would do practically anything to protect them. It broke their heart when Andromeda left, and Bellatrix hasn’t been quite the same since. 

Andromeda’s betrayal has put a new focus on Bellatrix’s life. They are determined that nobody else will be put in that position and will do whatever it takes to ensure the Dark Lord’s plans are successful. They simply cannot allow any other purebloods to be influenced by the scum that thinks they now belong in their lives.

Bellatrix has taken it upon themself to ensure that the pureblood values would continue to be on top. Step one involves bringing the Black family back on top. They have not fallen that far, but there is no denying the scandals have done some damage. Bellatrix is determined to bring Andromeda and Sirius back into the fold and keep them there. Doing so will show everyone that the Black family can once again be trusted.

Gideon Prewett - There is nothing Bellatrix hates more than blood traitors. Gideon has started talking to Andromeda more, and it makes Bellatrix suspicious. They are determined Andromeda isn’t going to fail them again and is willing to do anything to make that happen, including taking out Gideon if needed.

Narcissa Malfoy - After the middle Black sibling’s betrayal, the remaining two got closer than ever. There is nothing, not even their husbands, that can separate Bellatrix and Narcissa. The siblings are incredibly protective of each other and practically inseparable. 

Sirius Black - Whilst Bellatrix has not forgiven Sirius for their betrayal of their family, Bellatrix is determined to reunite the whole family. They are willing to do just about anything to put the Black name back on top, even if the rest of the family is not as willing.

The Borgins were never a renowned family in the pureblood world. They owned a shop in Knockturn Alley and did not have enough pureblood ancestry to be accepted onto the Sacred 28 list. Reine didn’t mind this, though. Being able to slip under the radar and avoid all the pureblood drama was something they appreciated. It wasn’t as if they could ruin their reputation any further since it wasn’t the best in the first place. Reine also had the unfortunate fact that their father intended that they would take over the shop. It meant that when Reine wasn’t at Beauxbatons, they were running the counter at Borgin & Burkes. It meant they struggled to develop meaningful friendships, at least ones that would help push their name further. Reine doesn’t appreciate that fact.

Despite this, they managed to form an interesting relationship with Antonin Dolohov, who apparently could see beyond their being the child of a shopkeeper. They aren’t betrothed, although it is likely to happen eventually. With neither of their parents pushing the issue, Reine doesn’t see the point in making it official yet, especially since they don’t expect it to change anything.

Reine was pressured into joining the Death Eaters, and the person who recruited them terrifies them. They haven’t been able to tell anyone and that is eating away at them. Antonin has worked their way up the social ladder, and practically being engaged to them has meant Reine has been pulled up alongside them. Whilst Reine knows Antonin will protect them, and they feel trapped. It’s not like they can back out now that they’ve taken the mark.

Sirius Black - Joining the Death Eaters earned being tasked with attempting to get Sirius to join the ranks. Reine has done little to try to gain a recruit and intends to continue doing so as long as it doesn’t turn into Bellatrix or Rodolphus taking matters into their own hands.

Alice Longbottom - Although Reine wouldn’t say they are close, they can appreciate having befriended Alice. The two get along better than most, and Reine intends to use that to their advantage.

Fabian Prewett - Much to Reine’s chagrin, the Borgin family considers the Prewetts beneath them. Reine is polite enough not to make that known, but that didn’t stop them from toying with Fabian’s emotions and leading them on despite the flirting going nowhere.

Marz Mckinnon - Rumor has it one of the captives is related to Marlene. However, Reine doesn’t have confirmation on that. Either way, they can’t help but feel smug in holding that over the older Mckinnon’s head.

Ambrose Greengrass - The Prewett and Greengrass families were close for a time, with Molly overly familiar with what the inside of the Greengrass estate looked like. The families drifted apart during wartime but Molly still has a little bit of a soft spot for Ambrose.

Sirius Black - Things have hit a point where Molly can’t look Sirius in the eye. Nothing done from Sirius’ end past having a personality that reminded Molly too much of Fabian and Gideon. With the twins back, there is some shame surrounding how Sirius was treated.

Rita Skeeter - The two merely tolerate each other. Molly thought Rita was okay until the Daily Prophet started releasing more tabloid-like stories that sensationalized the news instead of focusing on the conflict.

Alecto Carrow - Unrelenting bully. Dorcas ended up as one of Alecto’s targets early on during their school career. It took eight years to stand up to the bully and prove they were a force to be reckoned with. Dorcas hasn’t thought about Alecto since.

Edward Tonks - Occasionally babysits Nymphadora for Ted and Andromeda, takes no blame in the word ‘sh!t’ having entered the child’s vocabulary and definitely did not say it after almost setting the kitchen on fire while cooking.

Barty Crouch Jr. - Troubled. There was always something a little off about Barty. It wasn’t anything overly obvious but Doris was able to see right through the happy-go-lucky front Barty wore while in front of classmates and the public eye. There was certainly more beneath the surface, with Doris regretting not having tried to get to know Barty sooner. Perhaps doing so would have meant saving them from seeking the wrong sort of people to befriend and strive for approval from.

Rita Skeeter - The two were close for a while but Rita had a change of heart that involved no longer being friends. Ultimately, it was a one sided friendship where Doris thought they were friends and Rita was merely using them.

Sirius Black - Doris initially thought Sirius and their friends were a total nuisance and wanted little to do with them. Time passed and Doris was impressed to see the group, with Sirius in specifics, grow up and mature enough to be deemed worthy of holding their attention for longer than a few minutes at a time.

His personality was designed for surviving his parents’ antics and expectations. Walburga prided in the youngest Black’s obedience since he didn’t challenge the rules and expectations of the family. Obedience was a front - one that meant avoiding the brunt of the punishments his parents came up with. It proved to be his downfall once in his teens since it meant taking the dark mark without complaint but it was that or facing a fate similar to Sirius’. The only difference between the two would have been Regulus not having a group of non-pureblooded friends to fall back on.

Growing up:

Two children hadn’t been part of the plan, with Regulus’ birth serving as an unexpected arrival less than a year after Sirius came into the world. His birth left the healer that had been called in terrified since he came early and Walburga was unaware of the pregnancy. There were several moments of silence marking his arrival before the wailing the healer was looking for came about. The healer was relieved to have safely brought a life into the world while both parents were detached toward another infant joining the household. Regulus idolized Sirius, looking up to his older sibling during the years that led up to going to Hogwarts. There wasn’t much to do in the manor they called home since their parents expected the children on their best behaviors. High expectations and quick tempers left Regulus willingly becoming Sirius’ shadow, not daring to misbehave out of fear of that turning into him or Sirius being punished. Any hints toward misbehavior from Regulus usually resulted in a stern talking to and a reminder that neither parent wanted children. Differences in beliefs came about the moment Regulus got to Hogwarts. Unlike Sirius, the youngest Black was sorted into Slytherin - corrupted into following the actions their parents expected during the year Sirius was at school without him. He took solace in the school’s library and excelled at potions and transfiguration, keeping to himself for the most part. Quidditch was his only outlet, with his maintaining the spot of seeker years two through seven.

During the war:

Regulus wasn’t given a choice when it came to taking the mark and was one of the youngest recruits to join the ranks. Talk of taking the mark came about shortly after Sirius ran away. It was quickly made clear that he was the replacement heir and his parents had no room for the thoughts and behaviors Sirius displayed. His parents were too focused on ensuring the family name didn’t get dragged down from Sirius’ disownment to care about the thoughts and feelings of their son, leaving Regulus feeling as though he lost the little sense of self he had been able to develop while at Hogwarts. He took the mark the summer before his sixth year of school with no choice or room for his input on the matter. Knowing he would turn seventeen three days into the school year left his parents eager to ensure he did as they requested. The two school years that followed were fueled by anger. Regulus turned into a shell of himself and pushed people away. He maintained high grades for the sake of not wanting to draw attention to his inner turmoil. The only hints toward anything being off came about the few times he bumped into Sirius since yelling and tears of frustration were almost always the reaction to being reunited. During his final year of school, Regulus came across a new book in the restricted section. It lay face up on one of the tables with the cover shining bright enough to immediately catch his attention. There was no knowing who left the book there but Regulus was certain it couldn’t have been the librarian. He never found out during the three days that were spent reading through the text but Dumbledore had thrown a few extra glances in his direction during breakfast the following week. Regulus was left aware of the properties of a horcrux, what they were, and how to destroy them. It was dismissed as pleasure reading at first then later played a role in the discovery that Lord Voldemort was set on making them. Being unable to stomach the idea of Lord Voldemort living forever left Regulus desperate to destroy the only one he was aware of. A plan to get the locket was set in place the summer before he turned twenty. It went smoothly up until the inferi nearly took him under the water. Not having given direct instructions to take the locket home and leave him caused Kreacher to risk his life to save him. The two arrived nearly dead at Regulus’ flat and didn’t speak of the matter past Regulus ordering Kreacher to get rid of the necklace. He still isn’t certain if it was properly destroyed or not, but Dumbledore’s smooth climb to power has left him quite certain the path wouldn’t be so easy if the Horcrux still existed.

No time like the present:

The role of unspeakable was one Regulus happily took and maintained during the war, quite enjoying being able to do a job without needing to worry about other people bothering him. He has been meeting with Aberforth Dumbledore and Amelia Bones to discuss next steps in regards to Albus Dumbledore’s position in the Ministry. The discovery of the two came about during an evening that was supposed to be spent drinking himself into a stupor and turned into a bond forming from the three not trusting Albus or the smooth words that have been given to the public.

Connections

Eleanora Burke - The two were betrothed shortly after Regulus graduated from Hogwarts. Little mind was paid toward the betrothal from Regulus since he was overwhelmed by his impending defection from the Death Eaters and didn’t expect to make it out of the war alive. He called things off shortly after news of the Dark Lord’s death spread and hasn’t batted an eye in Eleanora’s direction since.

Peter Pettigrew - Regulus can be blamed for one of the Marauders being kicked out of the group. He recognized Peter immediately and did little at first, merely keeping an eye on things since he wasn’t sure if the Marauder was there to spy or had properly joined. Once certain Peter was heavily involved with the Dark Lord’s cause left Regulus with no other choice than to let Sirius know. It was the first time he and Sirius properly sat down to speak in the middle of the war and had proved to be worth it.

Ezra Tonks - Regulus tutored Ezra during their time at Hogwarts and used them as a way to check in on Andromeda. There was no way of avoiding the situation since Professor Slughorn specifically suggested he tutor the oldest Tonks twin. Saying no would have turned into the Professor letting his parents know he wasn’t cooperating and Regulus intended to keep his flawless streak of no howlers sent to him from Walburga. Tutoring turned into friendship, not that Regulus would call it as such since he wanted nothing to do with muggleborns, and the two still occasionally write each other.
