When I say a character has done nothing wrong, I say it with whimsy and humor in my heart. When some of you say it, I fear you truly believe it

In a shocking move, CBS is ending “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” next year, potentially exiting the late-night television business alt
It’ll go like this:
Colbert - who we already know is first domino to fall.
Stewart - his contract is through the year. They were talking about Colbert and Stewart being “on shaky ground” earlier this week, so the decision has already been made and, because they just announced Colbert’s fate, Stewart’s will be announced very soon - between Friday 18th July 2025 and Monday 21st July 2025. Perhaps Stewart will even announce it on his Monday show. But the announcement is imminent. And it won’t be a contract renewal. They’ll kill The Daily Show after that.
Then… Kimmel. His contract’s coming up soon.
As for Meyers and Fallon, yep. They’re going too. It’s just a toss-up of whose contract expires first.
I think John Oliver will probably be the last man standing, if only because his HBO job buffers him somewhat from the networks, who all are cosying up to Trump (exactly the way ours are cosying up to Farage and the far right).
Bill Maher is the wildcard.
Whatever happens though, they’ll all be alright. Whether they revive Strike Force 5 or do something akin to what Conan is doing. But as much as the end of American late night talk shows was going to happen, I do believe Trump hastened it.
