OC’s don’t actually deserve respect just for being OC’s. I see so many posts basically being like ‘You should love and respect every OC no matter the skill and polish because someone put work into them!’ and just... no. A bad character is a bad character. Try again. And also, sorry not sorry but it takes no work to copycat a character, or make up something generic and shallow like “She acts like a bitch when you meet her, but if you get to know her she’s really kind and sweet inside!” << Actual description I saw for an OC. That was literally the entire bio, aside from physical description. 

See also people who have OC’s break canon for no reason. Like characters that have powers that are specifically canonically stated to be rare, or unique. In the SE fandom I used to see a lot of OC’s that were weapons that could fight without Meisters. No. It is canon that ability is super rare (like Justin), and to play a character that can just do it, nbd, is poor research, and poor writing, and no, it doesn’t deserve respect.

His foot was tapping the ground at a pretty steady pace as Galanoth watched the townspeople walk by.  Where on Lore was Condor?  They’d met up earlier and agreed to go on an expedition, but it was currently fifteen minutes after they were supposed to meet and he still couldn’t see any sign of her.

The dragonslayer sighed, and leaned back against the tree he was standing under.  He told himself that there was any number of reasons why the hero could be late, she didn’t exactly have the best attention span after all, and she was probably going to show up soon anyways.  That didn’t do much to convince him not to leave and get something to drink while he waited, but it did keep him at the spot long enough for a small child to find her way under the tree and tug on his cape.

((I learned this lesson the hard way: Don’t color gloves(well, knee high tights i used as gloves) for a cosplay with Sharpie. See i thought that would be a GREAT way to do the fucked up arms on my Tomix cosplay. I mean it looked pretty good buuut wearing it at a con all day got sharpie all over my arm, even though I’d made the gloves MONTHS ago. It irritated the FUCK out of the eczema i have on one of them too. 0/10 would not recommend, i need to make better not-arms))
