Kérastace Elixir Ultime Hair Treatment
Hi everyone, I thought today I would talk about my new favorite hair treatment; the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Mask! I have quite dry hair, due to bleaching it, and heat styling it occasionally too. I wanted to find something that would bring back some shine and moisture into my pretty sad hair.
Basically, I found this treatment in the back of the bathroom cabinet. I believe that my Mother had bought it ages ago. Barely used, I decided to use it myself.
How the Kérastase Hair Treatment Works:
This treatment is full to the brim of good for the hair oils. These oils will help to hydrate and moisturise dull and lifeless hair, bringing it back from the literal hair graveyard! It’s also full of hair serum which is going to again help to soothe and repair damaged hair. Through the use of the oils and serums, the hair is going to look healthier and shiner, as well as feeling softer and more hydrated to the touch.
How to use the Kérastase Hair Treatment:
Not too much of the treatment is needed to get it throughout the hair. The amount needed will vary per person due to differing hair types, length, and thickness. I used about 3 $2 coins over all of my hair. I have a lot of hair, and it is relatively long too. Once in the hair, I would then leave it for about 2-7 minutes, thus allowing it ample time to penetrate and treat the hair properly. After that, I would then wash it out. Because this treatment is oil based, it will leave a slight residue in the hair, this will just help to add shine when the hair is dry.
My thoughts on the Kérastace Hair Treatment:
I really like this treatment. It really did make my hair look shinier and a lot healthier than it did before I washed it with this. I liked that it added hydration to my hair too. Living in a really windy climate in Wellington does take its toll on the hair; it makes it knotty, dry and unmanageable. I found that this fully counteracted the effects of those issues, leaving my hair look and feel the best it has in a very long time. I would definitely recommend this to someone who has dry, unmanageable, lackluster and damaged hair. This will also help to repair the effects of colour treated hair, which is fantastic for those of us who like to change up our look frequently.
Herbal Essences Drama Clean Shampoo
Matrix Biolage HydraSource Conditioner
Tony & Guy Leave in Conditioner
Hask Coconut Shine Oil
What did I use the Kérastase Hair Treatment With?
For shampoo, I used the Herbal Essences Drama Clean Shampoo. This can tend to be a little drying, however, I found that the Kérastase helped to counteract this. I’ve used this shampoo for years and seeing as everything is drying out as I get older, it may be time for a change.
For conditioner, I used the Matrix Biolage Hydrasource Conditioner. This is perfect for more damaged and dry hair. I tend to leave this on for about five minutes, to achieve optimum hydration.
For leave in conditioner, I used the Tony & Guy Prep Leave in Conditioner. This helps to hydrate the hair even more and add more hydration without weighing the hair down. I put this in my damp hair before heat styling.
The last thing I put in my hair is the Hask Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Oil. This sets everything in place. Optimising my hairs shine and hydration. I talked about the best hair oils last week here
Final Thoughts
All in all, I really like this product. I think that it works really nicely with everything else I use, it just slots into my hair care regimen really easily. I highly recommend this to someone with more dry hair, as it’s going to help revive it, hydrate it and add luster. It can be found on the Kérastase website here. At $65 USD for 200 ml ($87 NZD), it isn’t the cheapest hair treatment out there. However,
I would say it is worth it. My hair really hasn’t looked better in a very long time!
