So in Dear Evan Hansen: Through the Window (or as I like to call it, The Big Book of DEH), Kristolyn said that she thinks Alana had a crush on Connor and that was why she was so adamant on persevering his memory and that got me thinking...

AU where Evan actually plucks up the courage to ask Zoe out and she says yes because she thinks Evan's kinda cute. Meanwhile Alana asks Connor out (because fuck gender roles) and Connor agrees because he's honestly just surprised someone likes him to begin with. Everything's fine until they go on a double date and it becomes painfully clear that Evan and Connor should be together and Zoe and Alana are meant to be.

Unfortunately, each of them thinks that they're the only one to realize this and no one says anything, because neither of the Murphys are gonna try to steal their sibling's date, and Evan and Alana wouldn't do that to each other or Connor and Zoe.

Everything is awkward until Jared spends ten minutes with the group of them and calls out that they're all with the wrong people, to which Connor and Alana are just like "yeah."

They still hang out as a group since Evan and Zoe still platonically care about each other a lot and while dating Connor and Alana bonded over book stuffs.

Jared declares himself match maker and let's that go to his head.

Cynthia and Larry are a little confused that their children traded significant others, and Evan and Alana switched Murphys.
