#OFWSTORIES: #confessionsofmykabayan | 7/30 | i'm actually speechless how am i going to start this story. when i first met eunice (@nicetanm ), i was impressed of her strong character. she's eunique! and of being her great personality, there's a story that lies behind. . "today is the 10th death anniversary of my mom. she died with colon cancer in 2009, a year before my graduation. and a day before my sister's birthday. she underwent nine chemo sessions but stopped because we could no longer afford her needs. we've ran out of resources. that was when her body gave up and the doctor told us she has only a month to live. that was saturday, then the next day, sunday at 4am, it happened. mom left us. the world to me has stopped. i felt like the heavens just dropped. but no matter how we feel, she's already gone. she left us with debts we have never imagined. that was the most devastating day of my life. i have nowhere to run to. i felt so hopeless. a year passed. we were literally broken, all my siblings got sick. we we're hospitalized one after another. definitely the darkest year of my life. because we need to pay all the debts, and my two younger siblings are still in school, i had to do something for my family. then an opportunity to bahrain opened for me. i was a fresh grad that time and the civil war in bahrain was still on fleet. but because i need to take the opportunity, i risked. that was the bravest decision i've ever made. it was my first time to work abroad. i'm brave. but my dad is the bravest after mom left." - eunice . life teaches us many lessons that we could use to better our lives. from all of those experiences, we learn how to value life, love and perseverance. . these lessons are our weapon to whatever war we face. it's a foundation of how we build ourselves in the future. as long as we're willing to fight, and as along as we have the will to carry on, there is always the power to win. - jon ❤️// #justreflections #ofwdiaries #ofw #pinoystories #ofwtruestory #amwriting #writerscommunity #hony #storytelling #confessions #ofwconfessions (at Kuwait City) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz0RcuRhC6N/?igshid=g6efihoyycb5
