slowly the apartment he moved out of goes defunct and virgil gets to repurchase the items secondhand even though he's annoyed by their wear-and-tear and almost things he should just throw them out (even though he wont because he missed these items dearly and unfortunately didnt exactly choose to leave them behind on purpose), and makes his annoyance with them well known, even though he is trying to find places for them and still uses them just as regularly as he uses the rest of the items in his house hes pathetically attracted to

Jimin did say sgmb was his favorite song on the album just like smf2 was. So it may be how he chooses, his favorite the first single and the most mainstream song is the title. Also, he obviously had a very specific vision for sgmb and the only way he gets a video for a song is by it being a single. The fact that he never performed or even mentioned be mine until a few weeks ago makes me think it wasn't his favorite. He and the production team could have decided to make it a second single after he was enlisted since they were filming the official videos less than a month before he left.

that's right, jimin did say from the mv behind that SGMB is the song he liked the most from the album; that it was the first song they worked on after FACE hence it's like the transition from that dark phase to a lighter one with MUSE, and that the song represents and conveys his happiness. he said he had imagined how to show it.

with those things in mind, we can assume that it was really his vision and plan for SGMB to have its spotlight, so that he could convey that happiness through the song. so yeah, maybe aside from SGMB and Who, Be Mine was supposed to have its spotlight too (that English version happened for a reason), but as we've witnessed, things didn't go exactly as planned.

idk about the exact timeline of them initially deciding to make BM a second single, but we can have some idea basing on ryan tedder's statements. he recently said that:

"...we wrote the song kind of quick and six months later they were like, 'Hey, it's coming out, it's the second single'."

remember that he posted this in November 2023 wherein he confirmed that he just finished recording (and writing) the song with jimin:

so, if we look at when that six months later (after recording and writing the song) happened—which he mentioned was when he received a message about the song's release— it would be around May 2024 (or April 2024, since they could've finished recording that song earlier on Oct 2023, and not exactly on Nov 2023).

Nov 2023 (or Oct 2023) - RT "finished recording" Be Mine

Dec 12 2023 - Jimin's military enlistment

May 2024 (or April 2024) - RT received the news "six months later" that the song was coming out as the second single.

July 19 2024 - MUSE's official release

Aug 2 2024 - Be Mine English version's release

the decision about BM becoming a second single could've come later, but obviously, jimin had to record the English version before he enlisted. so...

The lotf fandom is going to shit right now. Everybody is insanely dramatic and fussing over the smallest things. Why can't we just agree with eachother.

while i agree with the state of the fandom, i think that if we all agreed all the time, it wouldn’t make the fandom interesting!

it’s beautiful in its own right. even if it causes everything to go to shit, there is beauty in it. a human beauty and not like a “oh this is cool” beauty

yes people do need to be kinder, but it’s also worth finding that beauty in the shit shows that we create. we are human beings, we will never always agree. it’s just the huge and awful things like this that make it really toxic

Okay, so I’ve read y’all’s thoughts and I think a soft revamp would be best !! I think I’m going to work on the theme ( maybe, I like the theme but changing it to be more vibrant might help ) and the plot, I won’t change the plot much but I’m going to try to make it a bit more appealing. Please keep threads going in the meantime ! I'll also try to get replies out soon. Also thank you for the kind messages y’all are too sweet. :( I’ll try my absolute best to get this group going again !
