On September 27, 2011, opening statements in the Los Angeles trial of Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, took place as prosecutors accused Murray of killing the superstar through irresponsible use of the anesthetic propofol, and the defense maintaining Jackson had caused his own death. (Murray was later convicted of felony involuntary manslaughter.)

Conrad Robert Murray is a cardiologist originally from St. Andrews, Grenada. He was the personal physician of Michael Jackson until Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, in which he was implicated. He was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter, convicted, and sentenced to four years in jail, of which he served two. Murray was raised by his maternal grandparents who were farmers in Grenada until he joined his mother, Milta, in Trinidad and Tobago when he was 7 years old. He grew up poor in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago. He did not meet his father, Rawle Andrew, also a physician, until he was 25. Andrew, who died in 2001 was devoted to providing medical services to the poor. Murray finished high school and worked as a volunteer elementary school teacher in Trinidad for a while . After teaching, he worked to save up for college tuition as a customs clerk and insurance underwriter. At the time that he began working for Jackson in May 2009, Murray had reportedly fathered seven children by 6 different women. On June 25, 2009, Jackson died only weeks after hiring Murray; his death was ruled a homicide, due to an overdose of propofol. Murray admitted administering 25 mg of propofol intravenously, for insomnia, on the night of his death. Murray said he tried treating Jackson with other drugs, and claimed he only administered the propofol after Jackson insisted. Murray said he worried that Jackson had become dependent on the drug as a sleep aid, and was trying to wean him off of it. Propofol is normally given in a hospital or clinical setting, with close monitoring, and is not indicated or approved as a sleep aid. On February 8, 2010, Murray was charged with manslaughter; he pleaded not guilty, denying any wrongdoing in connection with Jackson's death. #ConradMurray #islandpeeps #Grenada #Trinidad (at Grenada)

Who is to blame?

Is Katherine Jackson to blame for Conrad Murray's big mouth? What about Michael's estate? Or is Conrad Murray himself to blame for his verbal diarrhea ? MJFAM, think before you blame. Even if you don't like Katherine Jackson ( which, I don't see why fans don't), or if you are against the estate, let's face it, as Steph Martin from the MJsloveismagical blog. (http://t.co/TI68fnquj6) pointed out, even if KJ sought restitution from Conrad Murray, it would NOT have served as a gag order to shut him up, it would have only served the purpose of CM not making profit off of MJ's death. The ever ineffective and impotent Estate has released a statement in response to Murray. However, they also can take no real legal action, because there are NO *laws that prevent slander of the deceased, unfortunately, so Murray can talk all he wants to. The question is, however, if mjfans will give CM attention by commenting on tabloid blogs, writing letters to sponsors of these tabloid shows/ mags. Clicking on the news links brings in profit for these companies. Letting CM know that he is getting to us will just encourage him. I think we should just ignore him and let him wither and die. CM wants to avoid the blame, mjfam should not place the blame on anyone else (not KJ, not estate) but Murray. By blaming others like KJ for their actions, we are playing into CM's hands. He does not want the blame. MJfam needs to assign him, and only him to blame for his slander. If we look at anyone else and day 'its YOUR fault', we will be taking the blame away from Conrad Murray.
