Some people are doing a no-buy year. I think that's awesome, but I'd rather just be more conscious in my shopping habits. Also, I am planning to move soon so I do need to buy stuff. I know there's exception in a good no-buy, but I prefer to just make myself a more realistic long term way of living and consuming.
I've decided that I'll carefully catalogue all my purchases this year. Well, not all, but a specific subset.
I'm not talking about necessities, a drink out or something similar. I'm talking about books, clothing, make-up, accessories, and more. I will also try to include free items (not gifts, but hand-me-downs are included, I feel).
And it's only been four days but I've already done two. Well, one purchase was a book, a physical one, but I do need the book for my book club, so I'd call that a necessity. I also have the PDF but reading on the phone and me aren't good friends.
My second purchase was just now. I bought a non-physical thing: extra Pikmin storage for Pikmin Bloom. Absolutely unnecessary luxury of course. Also not my first microtransaction for that game. But hey I play regularly and it motivates me to walk and bike more.
Oh and I found a free book with short stories by Annie MG Schmidt at the Boekenwissel (book exchange).
So I got a book (€15 incl shipping), a microtransaction (€2,50) and a book (free)
