Minerva actually never saw herself as a teacher. She wanted to be a researcher, writing new Transfiguration theories. When her first three attempts at publishing them failed because “no one wants to read magical theory written by a woman, Minerva”, she accepted the teaching job, and took Dumbledore’s suggestion to publish them again under a male alias. When those theories got praised for being so innovative and well thought-out, she stepped forward as being the author, and completely shook up the male-dominated world of magical theory.
