spn news
James was feeling tired. This day had been a lot of boring interviews, a lot of boring people, and jobs undone. The next day would be like this too. More and more interviews. He had to hire a new set of snipers and hitman and nothing good was turning up so far. He wanted to take his mind off so he put on some casual clothes, a black sweater and something else would do, and he went to the nearest night club. Maybe spend some time there, the noise was awful but with a bit of luck maybe he can find someone worth it wasting his time with. James entered and took a seat in the corner, he ordered a margarita and checked out his "surroundings". Nothing really interesting, some were dancing, getting drunk, leaving the place, getting in, ugh people. A blond wasting his precious time drinking whiskey, hmm could be worth it. He had a pretty nice face. The stranger noticed James looking at him and gifted back a confusing smile, was it a smirk, difficult to tell, he had a pretty poker face, nice for calling out names, under sheets... He decided to return the smile and order another fill for the stranger. The man picked up his glass and approached him. James put on his mischievous smirk and waited for the stranger to say something.
Sebastian was a regular to that club, for both the drink and company that he ended with half the time. But it felt a little different, the man figuring he probably shouldn't drink too much or bring anyone home, he had business tomorrow. It was about time he actually got a job anyway, else visiting clubs would get boring. So far it seemed to just be a boring night, the man's gaze never staying on somebody for too long. This wasn't any better, the man now stuck fretting over the next day. What if it was a set up, or just a bad idea? That's when the feeling of being looked at kicked in, Sebastian finding who it was and offering a signature smirk towards them. A dark haired man in the corner, already looking at him...maybe a distraction wouldn't ruin tomorrow. Having the stranger buy the next whiskey was a surprise and settled the debate of actually approaching. "Do you buy every handsome stranger a drink or am I just lucky?" He asked with a grin, tilting his head slightly. There were three things Sebastian would proudly say he was good at; flirting, sniping, and anything that happened between himself and someone else in a heated setting.
you don't need to have read lotr for that but it's the same author soo y'know similar stuff
I don't like lotr because the hero's journey save the world thing just makes me go 🙄 who cares but slm sounds fun
Silence danced to the tormenting deafness. Reichenbach, the great last plan. He'd found out about it one week early, it still was set to happen though. The yelling was probably heard three blocks down the street. James hadn't been acting normally, he should've known, Sebastian should've known something was not right. Now he was standing on foot, across his desk, waiting for a response. The other man had seemingly completely dismissed him, continuing to meddle with his damned plans, papers, work, whatever the hell they were. Work, always work, as if that was the only thing keeping him alive. Sebastian wanted to think he mattered to him, but as it shows... He can have all the wretched work he wants. He was about to storm out of the room and slam the door behind him. Sebastian turned around and pleaded, for the last time: "You know I'd never allow you to do that. It's not something I'm comfortable living with." He didn't wait for a response, it didn't exist anymore, whatever that had been in between them, if there ever was in the first place.
Sebastian decided to go out, he knew James would know all about where he was going, what he was doing, but could he care less?! At this point... He put on his coat and decided to pay a visit to Madame Adler. The weirdest thing is that while he was wasting his time there, all he could think about was the small whiny fucker he'd left at home. Sebastian returned the next morning, he didn't expect the other to do anything, after all he'd never had anything against casual encounters... but that was before. And now it's before again.
James didn't much try to hide the plan, it should've been obvious or at least a worst case thought. He didn't care of who heard them yelling, glaring at Sebastian for a moment. Caring would be the sniper's downfall, such a pitiful one too. He didn't want to give a response, breaking the glare to pretend to work. That normally would send the man away no matter now intense the argument. He paused at Sebastian's plea, still not looking or speaking. Somehow it struck deep, piercing the determined wall he'd set around himself. After so long, hurting Sebastian purposely was always out of the question. Yet this time he was so blinded with the need to guarantee destruction of this "arch nemesis" that it wasn't thought of. James huffed a bit, annoyed. It was already in motion, and there was no way to change it so suddenly. Unless the slim chance of survival worked of course. But that was so slim that it happening was never considered. Now everything was wrong, turned upside down and pushed through a mirror. Disgruntled, he turned away from the plans across his desk. Sebastian was gone, probably for the better. The assassin sticking around may actually ruin everything. Damn heart and mind, for becoming attatched to the man.
James wasted the rest of the day away reading, never soaking in any of the words. Just a distraction, so focused on flipping the pages and reaching for the next book. The longer this went on, the more harshly he closed the book. Now he was annoyed, annoyed at himself. Rethink everything now, just because Sebastian said something? It was so unlike him! Did the sniper have that much of an influence? Did he have the same influence over him? There was no way to know. It wouldn't be fair to find out now. The more he thought about it, the more dreaded Reichenbach became. Wouldn't walking away victorious be better than dying and not knowing, wouldn't it be better than to celebrate the success with Sebastian than to make him mourn? How confusing everything was, he couldn't think of anything else but the damned sniper. What could he even do when the man came back...if he did. Apologise, try to make up for lost time? How the hell would he be able to apologie for what he did, is doing? There was no way. He fell asleep at his reading desk, book serving as a rather uncomfortable pillow. Waking up yet again went back to thinking about the angry ex-Colonel. Not bothering to freshen up, James searched for the man, finding him easily. He tried to find words to say, failing for a bit. "I'm not asking you to allow me. I'm asking you not to stop me." He finally managed to speak, voice barely above a whisper.
