What kind of dish would you cook/introduce to your friends?
Oooooo i love this question!! I'd have to go with my creamy mushroom pasta, it's one of my only original recipes and it changes slightly every time i make it but it's fairly simple and very delicious!!
Here is the recipe, copied and pasted from when I first made it:
-1.5 cups mushrooms chopped (i used shiitake but crimini or white would be good too)
-1 pint heavy whipping cream
-sprinkling of cheese blend
-about 3 tablespoons of flour
-salt, onion powder to taste
1. sautee the mushrooms in butter at medium high. go slower than you think you need to if this is your first time sauteing, you do not want to burn them
2. in another saucepan, pour the cream and add flour, whisking thoroughly until integrated. do this at a medium low.
3. add about a handful of your cheese blend (I used low moisture parm-skim, mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, romano, fontina, and asiago cheese blend but use whatever you want you won't taste it too much tbh), continue whisking until cheese is melted and thoroughly blended. you may need to adjust your heat for this step.
4. continue mixing sauce until mushrooms have browned in other pan. Save excess butter for later, keep warm. drop mushrooms into sauce. Mix and let sit. I would recommend adding your seasoning (salt and onion powder) here but you can wait until the end of you wanna
5. Make your side. I did this as a pasta sauce, so I made noodles, but I think it goes well on chicken too so up to you on that one. If you make something that takes longer, you may need to start it sooner so the sauce doesn't sit for too long as it will get very thick (but maybe you want that idk you do you)
6. As side is finishing, add milk as needed to reduce thickness. You may need to add lemon juice or worcestershire sauce for additional flavor balancing depending on how long you let the sauce sit during step 5. when ready to serve, mix in the saved butter as needed for additional flavor.
