A trauma response where your emotions are so intense and so different from each other that they esssentially feel like their own people, largely due to identity confusion [especially in bpd or dissociative disorders]
You may give them separate names or pronouns that u yourself may also use or give them entirely unique ones. you may use fictional characters that u relate to as well as they simply describe those emotional states better.
They aren't literal separate identities like in OSDDID, for singlets there is a core/original.
Important note[s]
- this isnt a system thing, i specifically coined it as my experiences felt too similar but after a bit i was sure i wasnt a system.
- by proxy this is N O T an endo term, endos dni in general?? This isn't a syscourse blog and I am not a system, but I am putting a boundary in place, case closed.
- copeid shifts can feel dissociative, while you're still one entity u can fully feel like separate entities.
FAQ
"Do I need bpd to have copeids" so long you experience identity confusion, you can use this term. If you don't i think polyminded fits better
"Is this not just polyminded" yeah I uh didn't know polyminded was a term, and even then no since copeid REQUIRES identity confusion
[Reposted BY the coiner, I made this term I own @coiningdogblog]
There is no DNI here and any questions are welcome. Here are the main questions I can see being needed to answer.
what is a fader identity?
A fader identity is more of a model than it's own thing, its how preexisting things work. FaderID is dependent on other identities.
There are three layers to faderIDs: primary fader, secondary fader(s), and tertiary fader(s). The primary fader is how "strong" your other identities are, it can be its own identity, but doesn't have to be. Secondary faders are your main identities, while tertiary identities are your other identities.
How does this work?
Think of it as lights in a theatre, you have your auditorium lights, your stagelights, and spotlights.
Before the show auditorium lights are turned off so you can see the stage. If auditorium lights are off you can see the other lights clearly, if they are on its harder to tell which lights are on and makes it seem like the lights are erratic when the auditorium lights are turned off. Basically 0% is erratic but clear lights, swaps/switches are more noticable and more frequent. 100% is hard to see which lights are on, there may even be doubt your identity exists when its 100%.
Stagelights are what usually lights up the stage. Stagelights are almost always on the entire performance, even in a blueout during transitions or when spotlights take the center light they are dimmed. Stagelights CAN turn off, but it is rare. It can also work as a slider similar to auditorium lights, I have 2 main identities but only 1 stagelight, it's never 0%1 and 100%2, there's always at least 1%.
Spotlights are usually only on for a period of time, never the whole performance. Spotlights can be turned off completely, regularly, and can also be the main light on stage.
What identities can this be used with?
Any of them. This term is not inherently anything.
If your system works like this, go ahead, same with collective, or just plurality in general. Polyminds, SeneusIDS, CopeIDs? Yeah sure, why not. If this is how your brain works as well, absolutely go ahead. Even your queer identity can be described like this! Like flux and fluid identities.
Why did I make this?
In simple terms, I have a lot of different ways my brain works and there was never a term for it.
But in other terms. I'm polyminded and have copeIDs, but I'm also plural which is completely unrelated to either of those.
I used to say "manic" and "depressive" to describe when I was 0% and 100%, since those were the closest terms I could find, but I am not bipolar and I should not be using those terms to mean something they don't. My 2 headmates would be secondary faders, and my minds/copeIDs would be my tertiary faders.
All the terms and labels I use to describe my plurality
(And why)
Aka: What the fuck is this guy talking about, oh there's a post describing it.
Plural
The big catch-all term for anyone who experiences being "more than one". Important to note that this is completely seperate from me being polyminded.
Polymind
Seperated subpersonalities. The majority of the subpersonalities seperated are EPs (specifically with Secondary Structural Dissociation).
Cope Identity
A response to your emotions being so strong they feel like seperate people due to identity confusion. Exactly what it sounds like, I essentially personified my emotions.
Dividentity
When there's two distinct sides to your identity that do not blend.
Frairor
When your identity feels like a shattered mirror, seperated, but all part of the same mirror. Now you may be asking, how can you be both dividentity and frairor? They describe different levels of my identity.
Fader Identity
Where ones identity feels like a set of faders. The primary fader is how "vibrant" or "active" your identity is, the secondary fader being the core parts of your identity, and the tertiary faders being the smaller parts of your identity. My subpersonalities and copeIDs are tertiary faders, while my dividentity is the secondary fader.
Now to what I made the fuck up!
Holon
Whole parts in another whole thing. My personalities, the reason I use plural, my secondary faders, my dividentity.
Faction
Used to say factions of my mind, it just stuck, there's no reason I use faction otherwise. My subpersonalities/minds, my copeIDs, my tertiary faders, the reason I use polymind; cope identity; and frairor.
Class
No reason I use class other than funny TF2 reference, since my one class is part of a faction. Polymind terms she's a "submind".
Traumabased
Traumagenic + traumashattered. Basically I am the way I am because of trauma, I use traumabased instead of the other two simply for ease.
Main
Whichever part of me is "main" is the one in control. "Fronting" "active"
Second
Basically "co-fronting" or "co-active" or "co-conscious". I will almost never use this unless it's important to know.
Changing
I never use this really, basically "switching" or "swapping".
%
This is from faderID, the primary fader. 100% is I'm doubting my identity since one of us has stayed in main for far too long and everything feels hazy, 0% is somebody pressing all the buttons and levers and we're rapidly changing.
Pride
Describing everyone, "collective". Referencing lions for two reasons. 1. The Lion King, its our special interest. 2. We get to say my pride sometimes, and we loved that series.
Why don't I use language folks already know?
It feels bad to. My plurality, polymindence, and cope identities are so intertwined. Things like active and swapping are for polyminds, while medical terms like fronting feels wrong for me to use, we are not medical. So I decided fuck it, we're doing our own thing and we're gonna leave everyone confused. Feel free to use any of the terms I mentioned.
A mispelling of CopeID lol. The blog describes it as "A trauma response where your emotions are so intense and so different from each other that they esssentially feel like their own people, largely due to identity confusion [especially in bpd or dissociative disorders]", although its also specified that it doesn't need to be a trauma response, just usually is. Basically polymindence if is wasn't reliant on subpersonalities and required identity confusion. In fact all of my minds are cope ids, but not all of my cope ids are minds.
Shout out to those who are polyminded and have cope identities. You're allowed to be both, they are not mutually exclusive. It's also okay if you struggle between whats a mind and whats a copeid.
Also, shout out to those who are seunusid (have ids?? Idk the correct term). We love sister terms here.
(If you were wondering about the very brief haitus, its more explained here)
Going from mood swings so severe that you're screaming to serene quiet and you're almost positive you're not the part of the brain that's in charge anymore
augh i feel like this fits me(?) really well buuuuuuuuuut i don't wanna feel like i'm intruding into a did/plural community since i've got some online circles that i'm worried it'll be seen as attention seeking if i use this label.
do you know if someone has made a discord server/tumblr community for this yet? some people have commented on the flag pins on pinterest saying that this fits them, we might have people there...
- uhhh idk what to use for us... stxrcrxw? (🔻?)
Do whatever you want forever!
At least the systems i know and system i have seen on here are fine with the term, so long you dont intrudce on sys spaces.
Id say a space like the polymimd community[similar term] is the best for ppl.who identify as copeid
But no, i don't know any communities specifically for copeid.
