I didn't watch it to mock it or because it was bad.
I just wanted to get an idea how bad poor Bruce Willis's cognitive problems are and his aphasia.
I could see his pronunciations seemed "thick tongued and toothy". His aphasia seems very tied to the control of the movements of his mouth. I caught him wearing an ear piece for lines. And he seemed distant, vacant, or lost in his longest dialog scene at the end. Very noticeable there. He possibly had 20 lines the whole film.
Incredibly different to his older films where he was very quick witted and reactive whether he improvised or memorized.
I hope that Willis just didn't want to quit acting so he took the "VOD trash" type movies to delay his retirement as long as possible because he truly loved acting.
Because you see this thing and hope that his manager or whatever didn't just whore him out for his 10% of every paycheck while he's being totally confused. But it feels a little like that in my opinion.
Regardless, I feel really sad for him. His family. Whether it's stroke or some other cognitive neurodegenerative disorder and decline. That's their private business.
I hope his blended family and their wealth and patience can keep him from a nursing home type setting. Familiarity of people he's known his whole life, even if he forgets them too, will be what keeps him from loneliness and fear in confused states and as communicative abilities are lost further as time goes on.
And that isn't some rich vs poor thing, my mentioning "wealth". Because I have first hand experience in that situation. Money means little when you see it and experience it yourself. It takes a special toll on you, a deep awful despair. Part of your soul dies seeing someone you love disintegrate in that way.
