Ok v quick backstory:I work in a call centre for a company w Scottish in the name&am obviously Scottish. It is, admittedly rare, but still funny when ppl bring up brexit/Indyref on the phone bc we've been told not bring it up but they bring it up, say what you want-there's been a lot of fun ones but one time someone yelled down the phone at a colleague of mine that Scotland should just fuck off and leave the UK bc we're a waste of space & he just calmly said 'trust me sir, we tried'
Ahaha, yes, I’ve heard similar stories from people who’ve had to deal with customers from down south who have to phone Scottish-based call centres. Sometimes you can’t help but get involved with politics with customers which can sometimes have hilarious/awkward results.
As a matter of procedure, we have to ask clients their nationality. When in Scotland, it’s usually a mixture of people putting Scottish or British. Sometimes we’ll have a bit of a joke about it. “Well I guess I should put British since, sigh, that’s what we voted for” or “am I fuck putting British on that form”. But once, I was down in Truro, right at the edge of the UK, and when I asked the nationality question they said “Cornish”. I looked at them for a moment, and this weird grin crept on my face, and so I nodded and put Cornish on their form. But get this. Most of my clients down there requested Cornish rather than British. It was fantastic to witness. They wanted independence from Westminster and away from the UK. And I fully support them in their campaign.
