New Intro Post! So, I'm Meka, I'm an adult (30+), with multiple degrees in arts, including a Masters in Comics and Graphic Novels. I am primarily an art blog first, with a close second to politics-- be warned, I am also quite chattery about my thoughts + opinions. I'm also very likely autistic so bear that in mind. -- I currently am working on my newest comic, Sundogs, which is an urban fantasy vampire hunter story. It's horror, it's character-focussed, and it's got a massive wardrobe-shaped butch lesbian as a major protagonist. Happy disabled pride month to the undiagnosed. To those with no idea what it could be. To those who are pretty sure they know, but can't be certain yet. To those whose doctors are trying their best, and to those whose doctors aren't. To those with test results, and those without. To those whose prognosis isn't looking good. In our choppy, efficient algorithmic world, it’s more important than ever to be slow. Listening to podcasts or videos on 1x speed. Or songs that are 7 min long. If you make art, do it SLOWLYYY. If you write, make that chapter long and yappy. Take one month to finish that drawing or painting. In this world that doesn’t want you to spend any time thinking or doing anything, taking your time is almost an act of resistance. Exist slowly!!!!

Chronic pain is like: I'm in pain. "Well, you really shouldn't let that stop you from doing things." Ok, I guess I'll keep doing this even though I'm in pain. "Well, if the pain was really that bad, then it would stop you from doing things, so it's probably not that bad." Actually, it got worse because I kept doing things. "Well, why would you overdo it and hurt yourself? You should know your limits." Ok, fine. I know my limit, and I have reached it. I need to rest. "Okay, but last week you did all this other stuff, so I know you CAN do more, so I think you're just making excuses?" Ok.
