Do you have any advice on how to improve clarity of linework at the sketch stage of a drawing?

My personal method is to just clean up the sketch via erasing, rather than drawing over. Erasing right on the sketch layer helps me to narrow down which lines are working and which aren’t, and thus what to carry over to the inked final product. YMMV, but I sketch very messily and it works for me!

I think she was so miserable she wanted to do something she's good at for a while. She can unlock a padlock without much difficulty but unlocking her own head is a trickier matter.
