Like everyone with a sewing machine, I've been making masks for friends and family. Set up my plant table as a sewing station, so it feels a bit like I'm sewing in a wee jungle. When I was doing my research into war knitting, the thing that jumped out at me was the feeling of powerlessness. You're probably as sick of war analogies as I am but, in this instance, I think it's warranted. Women (overwhelmingly) knitted and sewed for the war effort because it was something they could, something that utilised what skills they had. Sewing masks gives me back a small amount of power in a global crisis that's stripped much of it away. #craftoftheday #tuesdaysewing #sewing #sewingstation #coronacrafts #covidcrafts https://www.instagram.com/p/B-9-g0HlP-r/?igshid=gf5g38hgc0t4
