A while back I minorly fixated on Bubbles, from Super Powereds and I ended up with a headcanon and an AU about her that I wanted to share.

Headcanon: Bubbles is a fan of Bubble Bubble from Corpies

Au: Bubbles is an already graduated subtlety hero and a member of Modus Operandi. She's at Lander on an undercover mission, potentially as an extra set of eyes on the Melbrook situation. Her time with Nick was basically her going "this kid thinks he's slick. Time to annoy him to death"

Something that rereading Corpies is making very clear to me: Drew Hayes is fantastically good at writing ultra-powerful characters. Whether it be Fornax or Titan, Lodestar or Globe, he has a terrific understanding of all the ways that they’re set apart from humanity, and even from the people with powers that just aren’t on their scale. But he also understands all the ways that they are still human, and how incredibly important that humanity is to them.

No, I haven't spent all day thinking about OCs for a book series.

Of course I haven't been filling out a class roster of super powered students.

No, I haven't been fleshing out how their powers develop as they go through their training.

Why would I know which of them are related, which are friends, and which are rivals?

No, I don't know which one is the weeb, with a power to match.

Why would you even how many I have? I've got 30 concepts, and I think that's plenty for now. I'll sort out teachers later.

Kyle McCarley narrates the audiobooks. He provides some of the best voice acting I’ve heard in audiobook narrations to date. It’s pretty magical listening to the audiobooks. 

THEY’RE CHEAP TOO! The first two books are $3.99 on kindle, and the second two are $5.99.

The first book is 227,795 words long.

The second book is 180,000 words.

The third book is 356,700 words.

And the fourth book is a whopping 527,365 words long. 

Super Powereds was originally written as a web series. Meaning, it reads extremely similar to how a fanfiction reads. The platform allowed for deeper character development and more time to explore the universe. You get to see the angst, and the adorable everyday interactions that make or break a story. 

I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW COOL THIS SERIES IS. As the characters and plot develop, hand in hand, it gets even better. Each book is better than the last, and leaves you wanting more. 

And don’t even get me started on the spin-off, Corpies. It’s packed full of dad friend moments, dream following, adventure, extremely adorable romance, etc.

It is a spinoff of Drew Hayes' Super Powereds series and it is pretty dang good.

Makes we want to re-listen to the Super Powereds series.

Super Powereds

I love the superhero genre. If you don’t, you’re a Communist. In keeping with my love of the superhero genre, I would like to direct your attention to the Super Powereds series, written by one Drew Hayes.

So there’s people with superpowers in the world. Called Supers if you like.

But sometimes, no often, but sometimes, there are people with superpowers that they can not control. Called Powereds.

And ne’er the two shall meet. Until today. Five (or six, depending) not-so-ordinary college students who used to be Powereds are now Supers (but don’t tell anyone. It’s a very top secret hush hush sort of thing) and they are going to become superheroes!

The only thing standing in their way? Danger! Conspiracies! Dead fathers! Living fathers! Dead mothers! Living mothers! The mob! Super supremacists (Superemacist?)! Assholes! And generally lots of malarkey and shenanigans. Whatever those two words mean.

Well, I’ll be the first to admit that the series isn’t perfect, but except for those parts where it isn’t perfect, the series is great and if you don’t read it, or if you do read it and don’t love it, then you are not just wrong but also a Communist and you will forever have to live with the shame of having disagreed with The Real Eagal.
