Systemic Seagull.
In an old post of yours you said “In season 7 Gamble did what Kripke did, fucked up the budget. Singer rescued the budget and once again he has more power than Gamble and wrest control away from her (with Jensen’s support)” And you also said that Jensen used the TV guide boll results of whether the fans liked Cass being back or not to decrease Dean and Cass scenes by 50% every season after that. Why’d Jensen support Gamble, who killed Cass, being fired if he didn’t want as many scenes with him?
The two are not mutually exclusive and you’re using the correlation fallacy arguement and coming up with this
“Accept the grievances of faculty of color without question.” (Source)
“We must stop asking them because we are inflicting harm on them asking for evidence.” / “To ask for evidence of racism is racism with a capital R.” (Source)
“Epistemic exploitation occurs when privileged persons compel marginalized persons to educate them about the nature of their oppression. I argue that epistemic exploitation is marked by unrecognized, uncompensated, emotionally taxing, coerced epistemic labor.” (Source)
An Argument from “Equity’ is a Correlation Fallacy mashed with an Argument from Ignorance. Or, if you prefer, “X-ism of the Gaps.”
Either we care about understanding our world, and follow the evidence, with the understanding that something may not be due to our favored “goddidit” go-to explanation, or may even have two or more causes. If for no other reason than if you can’t evaluate change, how can you tell if things are getting better or worse? “I feel it in my heart”?
Or we admit we’re going to declare things to be true on nothing but “faith”, stop pretending we actually care about understanding let alone addressing things, and concede that truth is less important than ideological motivation.
Why do these things correlate? These 15 correlations will blow your mind. (Is this headline sensationalist enough for you to click on it yet?)
