Bahrain's Zone+ & Usif are going 'Places'
Bahrain duo Zone+ & Usif have been knocking out housey gems for a while now, starting off DJing at local hub Soundscapes before releasing on a variety of international imprints, including Berlin’s underyourskin and Mexican labels Akumandra and Talavera.
Last summer Zone+ & Usif put out their Places EP via Toronto’s Dream Culture, and the results were indeed dreamy. Check out the original mix of opening track ‘Hills’ below and download the full release on Beatport.

Ponty Mython
Lithuania’s football team earned a crucial point against Scotland in their World Cup qualifier last weekend, but that’s not the best result the country has produced recently. For that you’d have to look to Aleksandr ‘Ponty Mython‘ Pletnev, a self-described ‘skinny and bearded lad from Vilnius’ whose kaleidoscopic take on house is winning him fans all over the world.
Check out his recent ‘Life, Love, Changes EP’ for evidence. Released by Berlin’s Dirt Crew (who recently celebrated their 100th release with this vital compilation), the EP shows the breadth of Ponty Mython’s sound, from the rubbery funk of ‘Changes We Go Through’ to the jazz-inflected ‘Watch Over Him’.
Best of all is the spaced-out gorgeousness of ‘How To Get Your Life Together And Succeed’, clearly written by someone who’s done exactly that. Have a listen below and pick up the 12″ from the Dirt Crew website (apparently they only have one left!):
