Experience the Excitement of Cosmic Storms in Stellaris
Cosmic Storms expansion launches its power in Stellaris sci-fi grand strategy game on Linux, Steam Deck, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the creative talents of developer Paradox Development Studio and Behaviour Rotterdam. Available on Steam, GOG, and Humble Store.
Paradox Interactive has launched Cosmic Storms, the latest expansion for Stellaris, a sci-fi strategy game we all know and like. This new mechanical expansion, developed with Behaviour Interactive, brings a ton of fresh features. It's out now alongside the free 3.13 “Vela” update. This also includes bug fixes, gameplay upgrades, and UI tweaks. Due to make your Linux and Steam Deck gameplay that much better.
Here’s the fun part of this expansion – the Cosmic Storms. These aren’t just any storms; there are 8 new types: Electric, Particle, Gravity, Magnetic, Radiant, Stardust, Shroud, and Nexus. They also replace the old Space Storms, showing up randomly on the map and moving through the galaxy. These storms grow, shrink, and change speed over time, so you’ve got to stay on your toes.
The expansion lets you play as the Storm Chasers, a new origin empire that’s all about challenging the universe’s greatest force — yep, you guessed it, Cosmic Storms. These people also believe true enlightenment comes from pushing their limits by diving into the storms head-on.

There are also 3 new civics to check out:
Astrometeorology, which digs into the science of storms
Storm Devotion, focused on worshiping these massive forces
Environmental Architects, giving you a shot at reshaping the environment itself.
But that’s not all. Two new precursor stories dive into the history of ancient civilizations who mastered the storms. Unravel these stories to unlock some unique new relics, adding even more depth to the game.
The Cosmic Storms expansion also brings techs related to storms, new Anomalies, Arc Sites, and a Galactic Weather Control perk. This perk even lets you create Storms using your science ships. Oh, and don’t forget the new Weather Forecast Map Mode – now you can keep track of those storms in style.
On top of all that, the free Vela update brings a bunch of fixes and updates, including new districts and jobs for Thrall and Prison worlds, and some nice UI improvements.
Cosmic Storms expansion is available on PC for $12.99 or as part of Stellaris Season 08, which includes a bunch of other content coming this year. You can also grab it through the expansion subscription plan. OR on Steam, GOG, and Humble Store. Priced at $12.99 USD / £10.99 / 12,99€ on Linux, Steam Deck, Mac, and Windows PC.
