FFVI in Dark Souls II [PART 1?]
Given the obscurity of certain armor pieces, I haven’t been able to test all of these armor/weapon combinations. Even so, I’d like to think that most of these character recreations are pretty faithful. So strap into your Magitek armor, get your opera glasses at the ready, and enjoy!
In most of her official artwork, Terra is given elegant, flowing cloth garments — and while this looks very nice, it doesn’t have a Dark Souls equivalent. Instead I’ve opted for a more soldierly look, as befitting the Empire’s most powerful weapon.
Lion Warrior Helm (“Slave Crown”)
Jester’s Gloves or Knight Gauntlets
Shortsword (Fire) or Chaos Rapier
Iron Parma or Phoenix Parma
Black Witch Staff, Pyromancy Flame; all offensive spells, little/no support
For “Esper mode,” use the Dragon Torso Stone
This one was almost too easy, too obvious — so I’ve included a few extra touches that should better distinguish the character as Kefka.
Pale skin, bright red lipstick, dark eye liner
Tseldora Manchettes or Jester’s Gloves
Black Witch’s Staff**, Pyromancy Flame; spells must include Soul Geyser, Blinding Bolt, and Chaos Storm
**Illusory Ring of a Conqueror, paired with the Magic Shield and the Black Witch Staff in the left hand. As the god of all magic, Kefka can cast and deflect spells with nothing more than his bare hand. (Please obtain this ring without a mule!)
Between the green leotard and the “Kill Bill” suit, Celes’ equipment is all but impossible to emulate. The Blue Flame, however, is almost perfectly analogous to her runic blade — and so I had to mention it.
Blue Flame (“Runic Blade”); Homing Crystal Soulmass, Crystal Soul Spear
Staff of Amana; Crystal Magic Weapon, Twisted Barricade
True, playing cards and dice are not weapons in Dark Souls 2, but that didn’t stop me from creating a “gambler’s” playstyle. On a totally separate note, this is one of my favorite armor combinations in the game; I use it on several other characters.
Long/swept silver hair, pale skin
Ricard’s Rapier or Falchion
Parrying Dagger and Golden Falcon Shield
Throwing Knives, Black Firebombs
Charcoal/Rotten Pine Resin
The weapons were obvious, but the armor selection was much more difficult. If you feel that another set would better suit Edgar, feel free to change it — but do let me know what it is!
Drakekeeper’s Sword or Longsword
Helix Halberd (Not only is this weapon very “gadgety,” but the halberd’s “spin-to-win” attack is reminiscent of Edgar’s chainsaw.)
To avoid any confusion, I’ll make this point here: Sabin is meant to be a low-vitality Strength/Faith character, agile and hard-hitting. At least one caestus should not be infused with lightning, as infused weapons cannot be buffed by resin items. In all, I think this is a pretty good emulation of Sabin.
Large upper body, muscled physique
Lion Warrior/Mage Cuffs or Gyrm Gloves
Dragon Chime (or appropriate chime); Sunlight Blade, Emit Force, Wrath of the Gods, Sacred Oath
Ring of Giants (recommended)
Obtain the Shadow Set, equip katana
I play to take a more serious stab at this one — and others — later.
