Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale (Review

If you want to watch the movie, you can find it on KissAnime, but the subtitles are not always right, but it’s at least sub. I don’t know if other websites have sub the movie, but you like dub I don’t know about that either. So yea.

I love this movie, but this is SAO we’re talking. They gave Kirito, the biggest plot amour in the later part of the movie. I will be dividing the review into sections, but these are not in order because my brain is scrambled. Or not, who knows. I might jump topic to topic. With some spelling errors, because I hate spelling. 

This plot tho.

This movie has everything it needed. Since this is SAO, they didn’t expanded on most things. 

I don’t know how to explain these type of things (since this is my first time reviewing this type of thing. Give some slack, thank you.) 

There’s the villian that has actually have a motive, which was to reivie his dead daughter to help him was some one his daughter loved? Instead, of the ‘I don’t know. Seem Legit’ Besides the relationship between Yuna and Eiji was unclear. Were they friends of benefits, or dating? Who knows.

With Silica being useless, which Asuna to lost her memory of SAO. With Kirito doing everything in his power to get it back. Why? It wasn’t explained that much in the movie, but it was. Know what I mean? Basically, a reason Kirito is desparate to get Asuna’s memory back. Even though, Shigemura said it was to remove the bad memories. The thing is, that even though you were trapped in the game. You also have some happy memories, that’s how Kirito and Asuna started their relationship. Even though not all of us like their relationship with reasons unknown. 

There was one scene that made me so happy inside my heart. 

The battle scene between the characters and the 100th boss. I was literally so happy how the scene, even though there was some plot holes. Besides did anyone catch the fanservice in that scene? No? Then watch it again, until you can find it. 

Aside from that, I love the graphics of it. The colors! How Yui brought the players from GGO and ALO. Even brought the data storage from SAO, with Kirito being Jesus-kun. With Asuna using the 11? hit combo, from the Mother Rosoario? Arc. Even giving Sinon her Hecate back. How the look that Kirito and Asuna gave each other. How they use ‘Switch’ again. They probably have use it ALO, did they? I think they did. It was 99.9% perfect! I do have some questions though. 

Like how Asuna was able to remember to fight with her raiper? Before while the players were fighting the monsters, she sat with useless Silica (If anyone likes Silica, I’m very sorry.) I was confused with that, but it could be that she probably has some memories of it. I don’t know. 

Using technologies to reivie a dead girl, interesting concept. 

The engagement tho.

I personally love KiritoxAsuna, he propose twice. Once for just in case he didn’t came back or something. The second time was when they’re at the shooting stars. 

Did anybody watched the end credits, there were two extra pictures on there. One was when Kirito is meeting Asuna’s mother. The other was that Kirito and Asuna sleeping on each other’s shoulders with the Yui cam on Asuna’s other shoulder. They were also wearing their headphones. (Asuna:Red, Kirito:White.) Then the end scene. 

It was very vague, but in the end it said”SAO will return.”

duh duh dummmmmmm!

Overall, I would give this movie 9/10

Reasons why: 

Good Plot, but needs to expand.

Plot holes

Epic music, as always

Battle scene between the 100th boss.

Vilians has finally a motive.

Day 22: Moonlit

Arc V Anniversary - 30 Days (Ao3)

When Yuri took off his bôgu sweat was dripping off his forehead, neck and hair, and he could really use some water right now but even as he felt his lungs about to give out he stood up and faces his teacher.

He had finally done it and he couldn’t wait for her praise to fill him.

“It was... as good as it gets.” He tried not to let his shoulders sink as she was obviously peering at him like a hawk.  “However you’ve shown a great improvement on your hindsight and restraint, so I believe you are now ready to start training with the other apprentices.” The old woman said after he was done with his demonstration.

He lost his breath at this, finally he could get to meet other people his own age and mingle with them and get to have friends...

“Getting excited I see.” The old woman said with mirth on her voice with never failed to annoy him.

“Pfft, Please I’m just glad I finally get to clean myself at an actual bathhouse rather than some dirty and cold pond or lake.” He said with a wave of his hand.

“A good time as any then, pick up your sword and other stuff and come with me.”

“Wh- but can I fix myself a little? Get on some clean clothes?” How was he supposed to make a good impression like this? Sweat, dirt and grass sticking everywhere on his body.

“Oh, I thought you said you were excited to use an actual bath.”

Yuri had nothing to say about that... Damned woman.

“Hey Teacher!? Who’s that one?” “Is he like your grandson or something?” “Do we get him into initiation soon?” “Can’t wait to see what he’s made off!”

Those were some of the question Yuri could make out from all the people surrounding the teacher, some were old like the teacher, others where younger than him and others were in the middle.

The Teacher answered none of these, and rushed him to the farthest of the training grounds claiming that he wanted to show him something.

“She’s has the best swordsmanship around here, but like you she has a bit of an ‘attitude’ problem so I thought you might get along or tear each other apart, whichever comes first, either way less tasks for the others.”

*SWOOSH*

The sounds of a blade cutting through the air reached him before he could see the actual place, they sounded powerful but precise and fast, he hurried to the courtyard when his eyes started to make out a silhouette moving through the ground a curved blade on her hands.

The nearer he got the more details he caught: red garments, medium height, slim but toned frame, bluish hair that she held up on with a ribbon.

*DASH*

There were trees surrounding the training courtyard and since autumn was already upon the island the leaves were fluttering on the middle of the air, but she still remained focused on her movements that now he was close enough he realized he could match to dancing steps.

*FASH*

Yuri realized then that what looked like a training routine for others it followed a pattern, an objective, even now when she was at the center, completely unmoved and bathed on the moonlight her body was tensed up, ready to react to any disturbance.

And Yuri could not for the life of him make a sound, move a muscle or tear his eyes away from the sight, a great contrast with the turmoil he felt rising inside him, starting on his belly and going up to his now thunderous heartbeat...

He had to do something to get rid of this but he felt frozen in place, then a gasp came out from him without permission, product of his breathing accelerating for no reason at all...

*FWOOSH*

There was a slight flash from the corner of his eyes and when he realized he was staring at the greenest eyes he had ever watched, glinting because of the blade she held up on the middle of her face, pointing it at his heart.

“Selena...” The old woman said behind and the spell was broken, “This will be your new training partner, try not to destroy the courtyard this time.”

Yuri’s mind repeated his name on a loop as he watched her sheath her sword, she regarded him as he was something she would stomp with his foot and walked away.

It was only after she left that he got back his ability to move, speak and breathe.

Selena let herself rest on the screen, far away from prying eyes of the most fascinating shade of violet she had ever seen and she rubbed her cheeks to keep the image out of her mind.

Her mind reeling back to that one time, one that she had wandered to the forest explicitly disobeying the teacher, she had stumbled on a person coming out from the water, their skin glowing on the moonlight and even though she could not see their face clearly she had found it impossible to tear her eyes from the sight.

Until the wolves’ howling made her go back to her sense. The feeling those eyes provoked in her was too similar to that time...

It was probably just the fatigue
