The Avengers, Clint/Phil

There's a Dog-Related Pun in There Somewhere (Don't Worry; Tony's On It) by Perpetual Motion, PG, 11410 words Phil gets turned into a corgi. There are emotions involving Clint. That's literally the entire plot. Nice and long and so very, very humorous. Great get-together fic that has Coulson as a corgi for most of the fic. And it works, and the author manages to make it work without bestiality - thank god for that. Really fun and really enjoyable, a nice portrayal of our two main boys with the supporting characters done really well as well. “Friedman, what’s so exciting—“ Clint cuts himself off as he spots Coulson and Friedman explains that it is, in fact, Coulson in corgi form. Clint stares at Coulson for a moment, and Coulson begins to think of all the places he will bite Clint when Clint mouths off. “Congratulations, boss,” Clint says. “This is officially the weirdest thing to ever happen to either of us.”

The Avengers, Clint/Phil

Only his ring finger knows by sirona, PG, 1387 words In which the Avengers take advantage of some unexpected downtime around Tony's pool and several of Clint's tattoos are discussed. Including the one just over his heart... A really nice and charming charming little slice of life fic. All the characters come across really well, even if they're only mentioned in one or two lines and the interaction between all the characters is realistic and fun.

"Oh my god," she says slowly, sounding awed and gleeful and faintly horrified. "Clint Barton, is that a wedding ring?"

It's remarkable how quickly the peaceful scene devolves into cheerful chaos. Stark's head snaps around, bright, vicious grin showing a hint of sharpened canines, like a predator smelling blood. Steve lifts his head, a line creased into the skin of his cheek but eyes clear like he hadn't just been napping (Phil revises his earlier estimate. He understands what the easy glide of warm sunlight over his skin must feel like for Steve, after the past seventy years). Bruce looks confused, while Natasha just throws Barton a look that packs volumes into 2.3 seconds.

The Avengers, Coulson/Clint

Aripâ by foxxcub, R, 11767 words "I wish I could fly," he whispers. Wow, I was not expecting to enjoy this so much. Not because I doubted Foxxcub brilliance or anything, but wing!fic has always been a hit and miss with me. Normally a miss if I'm honest, so I tend to shy away from it but this, this was great. The wings are part of it, but in the sense of there are many little parts and they are only one. It's about Clint life, and once Coulson enters the picture it's about his life and how Coulson is in it, and they just seem to be circling each other looking for something. A really nice and charming fic, for fans of magical realism and probably wannable fans, it's a good ship starter story. Just because it's engaging but gentle.

“I’m not asking you to.” Coulson sounds lost, which makes Clint want to punch him. Hasn’t he learned by now, after all these years, that he never has to ask Clint for anything?

Clint doesn’t fuck up assignments very often. This time, he’s pretty glad he did. This fic is awesome, great writing with a weird but workable concept that is played brilliantly. All the characters are used really well and on the whole it's just fun. Coulson and Clint are amazing, in character and in their actions, as well.

“Stay off the comm,” Phil says, low in Clint’s ear, and Clint honestly can’t help himself when he says, “You first.”

Phil sighs.

Two hours later, there is still no sign of the mysterious Ugandan arms dealer Clint is waiting for, and the space he’s carved out for himself in the rafters of this old airplane hanger is stifling in the summer sun. “You okay up there, Hawkeye?” Phil asks, and Clint grins into the darkness.

“I totally knew you’d cave first, Coulson.”
