#course overload

I have 17 credits finished and I’m taking 2.0 over the summer. Is there any way they’d allow me to take 3.0 credits so I can just finish? Not trying to go to grad school. I just want to graduate! I know about the course overload petition. But I was wondering if it’s possible to do that for 3 credits over the summer instead of 2. Thanks :)

I’m not sure, you’d have to petition and get permissiom from your faculty.

So next semester I'm taking 6 courses for the first time, how do you manage 6 courses while going to work?

Poorly! 😅 It’s actually much harder than I anticipated, I’m going through an insane week right now where I have assignments due from every class and an upcoming midterm. The best advice I can offer, is to plan everything ahead of time and finish your work in advance! Mark down all your deadlines in a planner and mark the exact days that you should start those assignments so you don’t have to rush last minute, which is something I didn’t do. 😬 *instant regret*

As for work, I actually don’t have a choice in that department, I need the money and I have to commit to at least two days a week because I work in a clinic, so I have responsibilities there that I need to fulfill as well.

Students have done 6 courses before, so it’s doable. I’ve even known some students who have done 7 or 8 courses in a semester (gawd knows how), because it takes a lot out of you and you basically have to give up on a social life (I still try to squeeze in time here and there though).

Unfortunately, I can’t offer any other insight or advice because I’m currently going through this myself for the first time, so I’m learning as I’m going along. I’ll have a better idea by the end of this semester.

so this semester im taking 4 courses (I had to drop a year course) and next semester im taking 5 courses. I think its too late now to enrol into a course for fall so I was thinking of adding one to winter. do you guys think doing 6 courses is doable or should I just wait to do a class in summer?

6 courses is doable if you’re good at time management. I’m doing 6 courses right now and working, it’s verystressful! 😣

Hi guys! my question for you guys is that have you taken 6 courses in one term? and if you did what was the work load like, do you think its doable? I'm in third year and have three 4 credit courses and 2 full year ones for my winter term.

I’ve never taken 6 courses in one semester and I would ’t advise it either just because it is a bit much in my opinion. A full course load is considered to be 5 courses per semester ideally, so you actually have a course overload. That’s not to say that it’s no doable, it is doable, but it depends on whether the individual can handle it or not. I’ve heard of people who’ve done 7 courses in one semester before too! So, yes students have done it before if that’s what you’re wondering.

I am undergraduate student of Econmic, if I enrolled 3 credits in Fall 2016, 15 credit for Year term course and 9 credits in Winter 2017, did my courses were overloaded? If the Year term course, do they count half of the credit for Fall and half credit for Winter? Please advise

How do you have 15 credits for Yearly courses? Are you taking a 3 credit Y course?

Based on what you’re saying, you have 10.5 credits in the Fall and 16.5 credits in the Winter. You have a course overload in the Winter semester only, as the credit limit for each session is 15 (15 credits each semester is considered a full course load).

Does double majoring mean a larger work load?

Not necessarily, you still graduate within 120 credits, but it does mean more “major” courses and less choice of electives.

Hi, I was wondering can I take 30 credits in one semester or would I have to petition for course overload?

In one semester?! As in just the Fall, or the just the Winter? I’m not sure if that is even possible, I’d suggest speaking to an academic adviser.

Pretty sure you wouldn’t be allowed to do that because a full course load for one semester would be 15 credits. :/
