Weren’t vaccations supposed to be relaxing? She’d thought that, but somehow between the new baby the two families and the looming wedding date, Jane and Victor had missed that step. She’d seen Elizabeth off safely to her flight. She’d seen Victor trudge up the stairs to their bedroom. And she gave him just enough time to forget that she was awake before she headed up to meet him. 

Victor hadn’t noticed her come in, her bare feet making almost no sound. His surprise as she slipped into the big claw footted tub was too cute not to smile at. She loved seeing him surprised. Almost as much as she loved the way his eyes traced over her. Scars didn’t matter to Victor. Nor did stretch marks, or freckles, or dimples. Jane could almost swear that she felt his gaze tracing over her, lingering on his favorite places, and she blushed slightly. She would blame it on the heat of the water. 

Soapy water could hardly ruin a kiss from Victor. She could kiss him for months --years!- and never learn all the ways he would make her knees weak just from this simple act. He pulled her closer and Jane chuckled softly. His hands always felt strong on her hips. They left faint trails of fire as he pulled her close, traced over her hip and thigh, retracing her form with hands. She pressed closer again, purring. She had been loookging forward to this, and it seemed he had been as well, if his shudder-inducing touches were anything to go by. But they were both wise enough to know that a bathtub wasn’t the ideal place for such things. But such a setting was easily changed. 

“I missed you.” Jane admitted, pressing the words between the kisses trailing up to his ear. Her hand came over his, the water sloshing as she moved him, and reached to take her turn tracing him. She let her fingers swim over his skin, tracing over strong thighs, finding secret freckles, teasing him just enough to make him listen.  “But we’re here now.” She kissed him again, slowly, letting her hands slip back down between them. “Can I make a suggestion?”

Sinday meme!3. When was the last time they had sex?

This depends a lot on the verse. In the majority of verses, Jane hasn’t had sex in a while, if she’s had sex at all. But on others, she’s in relationships where sex is a normal part of her life. In her ‘base’ verse, she’s still a virgin, and hasn’t had time to do much but dream about satisfying sex.

She doesn’t have many. Jane’s never put much stock into fantasies, as the real thing may never measure up. But her favorite thought is often the image of a bright, deserted field in summer time. The sun not too warm on their skin, the picknick blanket soft over the grass, the breeze chilling places it often can’t touch. Of course, in her mind summer storms and bugs and sunburn don’t exist.

Y'all, so I was giving my friends the debrief of my book at lunch, and it was... passionate to say the least.

Anyways, my friend said to my other friend "let's google the ending of every book she reads so we can spoil it for her"

Then a little while later, he started explaining videogame terminology with book analogies.

And it's like, at that point... just get down on one knee. Cos if you are going to look up the hundreds of books I read JUST to talk to me about them, brethen WHY AREN'T WE MARRIED???

She had expected Victor to look at his phone, maybe smile a little, and actually come home at the end of the work day. She’d expected a winking emoji, maybe a little text, and the sound of keys in the door a few hours earlier than usual. But what she got was much better than that. 

[To: My Darling Husband, PhD:] Let’s call it a surprise. 

And it would be, for both of them. Jane had only really planned on getting him home a little earlier than usual. If Victor was going to leave a meeting early for her, she wanted the reward to be worth the risk. Her mind flaired with possiblities as she headed up to their bedroom to prepare something special. 

[To: My Darling Husband, PhD:] You will need to get here in one piece though. So use the crosswalks.

She smirked, and tossed her phone onto the bed. Jane silently thanked every marriage god she could think of for Victor and the confidence that he’d exuded, prompting a surge of confidence of her own. That confidence grew as she picked out some stockings and accessories, and imagined Victor’s face when he saw her in them. Yes, this would do nicely.
