I wanna rant for a minute.
I'm a CNA, and I worked the frontlines of this pandemic. I didn't get to be part of the lockdown, I was working in the nursing home watching the cases and deaths climb, and when it came to my doors of my nursing home I was on the frontlines directly. I watched people die, one man had covid wreck his body so bad, he was pissing blood and shitting tar. His body was hot to the touch, morphine could barely touch his agony, we had him on max oxygen and we could barely get his O2 saturation past 85%. A human needs at least 93% O2 saturation.
Day in and day out the faces changed, I watched them being wheeled off to the hospital never to return, the last time I saw my favorite resident alive was in a gurney, I covered him with a blanket and told him he would be okay. But I knew deep down he wouldn't be. Only days after the new year I was alone at his funeral staring at him in the casket.
I struggled to keep my residents warm because Housekeeping was too scared to come, and would only drop off small amounts at a time. I had to pick and choose which residents got a quilt and which ones didn't. And sometimes I didn't even have that luxury. A lot of my residents died with only a single sheet to keep them warm, shivering and miserable the whole time.
Covid is not a fucking joke.
It can and it will kill you.
It shows no mercy.
It will ravage your body, and even if you do survive a extreme case there's still the risk of death from clots and other complications that comes from having a severe case. If you almost died, you basically have a increased chance of dying later from Post-Covid complications.
Get. Fucking. Vaccinated.

PLS START WEARING MASKS AGAIN.
I know so many states have gotten loose and a lot of vaxxed people now go around without masks (I'm a little guilty myself though I still try to not go out), but it is not safe despite what the CDC had said!
Many previously anti-vax politicians and people are now pushing for vaccines. This could be because the delta strain is causing a lot of breakthrough vax cases and is hospitalizing a lot of un-vaxxed people (which includes disabled ppl who couldn't get the vaccine!). Due to it getting cold again we are also gonna see another big wave soon too.
And also yet another strain has been identified called Gamma, which might be even worse than delta (and we've heard about how bad that has been for a few weeks now).
Pls stay safe! My own university just put up a mask mandate again all of the sudden for most likely the whole semester because of how worried they are.
Vaccinated people aren't safe either (and we can spread it)! Pls wear a mask no matter what!!!
The people who spent a year screaming about how the virus was a hoax, peddling ineffective drugs like hydroxychloroquine to treat the fake virus, swearing that masks were both worthless because virions could easily pass through them, but also dangerous because CO2 (molecules 1000 times smaller than coronaviruses) can’t pass through them, insisting that lockdowns were a global mass conspiracy to destroy the American President, demanding the right to pollute a Texas Roadhouse with their patronage because “freedom over fear,” and resisted a vaccine before it even existed because they thought Bill Gates wanted to microchip them...is super proud and feels vindicated because no one can disprove that Covid didn’t come from a lab. Never mind there still isn’t really any evidence for that or that you can’t prove a negative.
But let’s say for the sake of argument the Chinese really did cook it up in a lab with malicious intent. If that’s true, then 2020 was just testing the hypothesis that all it would take to make the US a footnote in world history is enough scientists with a rudimentary understanding of molecular biology to facilitate another pandemic.
2020 proved that significant and vocal minority would HELP THEM DO IT by actively undermining any efforts to stop it. And they’d do it while proudly and unironically calling everyone else pussies and puppets.
Not the way I expected the police to be defunded but, I'll take it.
