The Heavens Are Empty: Tarn Steward

This behemoth creature stands taller than some buildings.  Its skin is supernaturally smooth and mirrored, a golden surface that reflects your face perfectly.  Its shape is that of an elephant, but with wisdom behind its eyes that no mere animal could ever achieve- the celestial before you is a paragon of good.  It plods closer, crossing the perfectly reflective and motionless surface of its home without a ripple.

The Tarn Steward is the caretaker of the Glass Tarn, which lies on the third of the Seven Mounting Heavens of Celestia.  The lake has prophetic powers, but more common than any prophecy are the visitors to Destiny Point, from which people may take a fragment of purpose that causes others to view them as someone with an important role to play in the multiverse.  The Steward watches over the Tarn and ensures that no being of evil may reach it to make use of its powers.  Ancient and mighty, the Steward is as powerful as any demon lord.

The Tarn Steward moderates its response to threats based on the level of danger to itself and any bystanders- it is not known to bring its full might to bear even against the most wicked of mortals if they do not merit its most decisive methods of achieving victory.  When it does, though, the Steward typically attempts a Trampling Charge on the first round of combat, followed by stomp attacks against any it successfully knocked prone.  If its foes resisted the charge, it instead uses its extensive water-based arsenal to spray holy water around the battlefield and manipulate its enemies’ positions to its own greatest benefit.  If it has allies present, it makes extensive use of its healing abilities.  In any case, the Steward rarely fights to its foes’ death, preferring to hand trespassers and those with malevolent intent over to the heavenly court for trials and appropriate sentencing.

The Tarn Steward rarely leaves the Glass Tarn in Venya, on Mt. Celestia.

With this, The Heavens Are Empty is finished!  I’ve added sixteen monsters to the ranks of the Celestial type, and if too many of them are insectoid, I’ve had bugs on the brain these past two years as a result of my home campaign.  Please do let me know if you use any of these critters in your own game, I would love to hear it.  The day might come when I add to the ranks of the heavens again, but for now, thank you for your time and consideration!

Welcome back everyone, I hope you had a Merry Christmas/Good Day Off/Slightly-Better-Than-Normal Day yesterday. I;ve got something incredibly cool today, as you can see- Brisela, Voice of Nightmares from Shadows over Innistrad (along with its component cards). This was another Patreon request, this time from my $10 supporter Eric Jimenez. Their request was specifically Brisela, but I couldn’t do just her without making Bruna and Gisela as well.

I’m still in the middle of a rush of activity for the end of the year, so I won’t be doing my normal Wednesday-Friday posts this week. I’ll try to do some more Patron requests, but no guarantee on that. I’ve got family in town for the week, a wedding on Saturday to prepare for, and a New Year’s Party to plan. I can promise I’ll have some content for you on Sunday though! Until then, have a good week. :)

Critical Role Episode 25: Crimson Diplomacy

I think the Briarwood fight at the beginning was the first REALLY interesting fight for me so far. Kit Buss did a really great job too and I liked her character for what little we got to see her. This is one of my favorite episodes yet but I can’t think of much to say about it right now - it was just good all around.

Most of the time doing these timestamps feels kind of pointless because the ones on youtube are usually pretty good, but I couldn’t find any for this one, so this might actually be useful for once. And I was surprisingly more thorough than usual.
