Living Bookmark – Tiny construct, neutral
The living bookmark is a quite literate being that loves to dwell in ancient tomes shelved in likewise aged cabinet of curiosities or burrow through reams of magical papers and mystical scrolls. It is a most welcome guest among lightsome librarians and cheerful scholars. Others, however, regard this peculiar construct as nothing more than a nuisance. Grumpy booksellers, nefarious spellcasters or excessively pedantic collectors consider it to be a pest only seeking to destroy their precious goods. To a certain extend, this might be true. Nevertheless, a well-treated living bookmark can indeed be an overly trusty companion and proficient adviser eagerly willing to share its knowledge to its best abilities.

Book Wyrm – Huge monstrosity, neutral
There are tales of book wurms growing to such an impressive size that no well-stocked library is sufficiently large and no long-forgotten archive secret enough to be able to hide it. Yet, they remain unseen. Buried under countless tomes and covered by a myriad of scrolls, the book wyrm slumbers. Undetected, it raises its brood of living sheets to flood each and every corner where paper is made, read, written on, stored or gathers dust. It isn’t a hostile creature and in no way easily disturbed. However, threatening its kin – deliberately or not – easily wakes not only the book wyrm itself but with it its wrath…
Looking for whimsical boss monsters such as a giant Chromunculus, the Hug Hulk, a dragon shaped from melting wax or this wyrm made of papers & sheets? I got a bunch of these over at my Patreon Page in case you want to check them out<3
Straying Gray – Tiny celestial, neutral
Seemingly lost and without any concept of orientation, a tiny knight shaded in pale wanders the lands. Detached from the doings and undoings of mortals, it follows a path no one can even begin to grasp. The straying gray is what they call this eldritch emergence; the bringer of nil; the herald of naught. It is merely a scion, however – brought into this world to carry something greater within its crumbling, sallow hull...

Geladin – Tiny ooze, lawful good
A peculiar creature oozing with courage. Shortly after the gooze was set loose and ravaged the streets of Falbheim, the geladin began its brave pursuit. As soon as the oozader formed its viciously viscous order, the geladin rallied its allies. Any bubbling slime crossing its path bursts into pieces, no crawling goo meeting the end of its sword will be sprawling again.

Re-uploading this creature! I gave a quick name change to better suit my needs. What was the mothman is not the mothit in the setting of Gloryanna. You can download the PDF and creature tokens on my Ko-Fi page HERE.
Bestiary: Wholly Bookworm
Scribes and historians fight an endless battle against time, looking to transcribe ancient knowledge before the paper it is written upon is lost to rot and oblivion. Wholly Bookworms seem to be the embodiment of this academic decay, appearing in abandoned libraries and neglected archives much in the same way that other fey protect sacred trees or minister to patches of mushrooms.
Smelling of mold and, these creatures are rather docile when left alone, happy to putter about their ruins or feywild lairs scribbling out treatises on their obsessions or answering questions for passers by. When confronted with the scent of magical writing however, particularly old or powerful ones, these creatures become ravenously hungry, quickly losing all of their scholarly demeanor and becoming engines of arcane destruction, more than willing to carve a warpath between them and their chosen morsel.
Pretentious Gasbags: Bumbling about like a parody of some doddering scholar, the Bookworm mumbles to itself constantly, stroking its beard and concocting inexplicable theories on the functioning of everyday things. Birds don’t actually fly, they’re just very good at jumping, candles melt when they are lit because the light draws tiny men who wish to use the wax to build their homes, there is an elaborate legal code which determines which flowers can or cannot be pollinated by bees and violating this code risks exile from the hive. Frustratingly enough, Wholly Bookworms have the magical ability to know ANYTHING with alarming accuracy, though doing so unleashes a wretched burp of wildmagic infused gas.
A Hunger for Knowledge: If it’s one thing that’s sure to draw the manifestation of a Bookworm, it’s an old tome succumbing to rot. The Smell of putrefying knowledge is enough to draw one or more of these Wholly beasts from Across the planes, who begins rummaging through the region’s bookshops and museums looking for the tome that drew them. A surefire way to banish the Bookworm is to destroy the volume, or to clean and restore it to pristine condition, but the latter option can take weeks or months without access to specialized magics.
Bane of Mages: Among wizards it is considered very, VERY bad form to summon a Wholly Bookworm to deal with one’s rivals, as the creatures can very rarely be contained by spellcasters and can undo centuries of hardwon research with their gorging. Druids have sometimes been known to use these creatures as living siege engines against arcanists that invade their territory, but such tactics only result in an angered wizard or a massively empowered bookworm who may be even less reasonable in negotiations.

Ashcap – Tiny plant, unaligned
A peculiar fungus fused with sinister magic; grown from spores as eerie as the spells that created it. The ashcap dots the grounds of deep forest and tainted glades. It sprawls across the soil where the birches tower over twisted wines and thrives on the side of streets that are flooded with alchemical waste. A single specimen doesn’t make for a threatening encounter – a whole fairy circle of ashcaps, however, can turn a harmless hunt for mushroom stew into a menacing mushroom massacre.

Oozader – Small ooze, chaotic evil
″The Order of the Gooze!″ the slimy knight babbles – barely comprehensible and dripping with bitter irony. For the oozader knows no order. It is a walking mockery of every honorable champion and noble-minded hero. Chaos controls its eldritch mind, malevolence moves its wobbly legs and wickedness wields its caustic sword. Shaped from the same matter as the infamous gooze, the oozader lives to absorb life itself. Its purpose is a vile one, its emergence heralds a great evil. Regardless of all the destruction it may cause it is merely a foul foretaste of what is to come…

Knight of Chitter and Chatter – Tiny fey, neutral
The battles the knights of chitter and chatter fight lie beyond the awareness of the larger creatures; the burden they bear goes by unnoticed by the taller dwellers. Too many are the forces that threaten the tinier peace – on a scale too small for most to care about but with an impact that is capable to shatter realms. Carried by petty paws, tiny wings or many claws, the knights of chitter and chatter patrol the – relatively speaking – vast reach of their sage. From the backs of their little yet trusty mounts, they watch, they guard and seek to preserve the balance.

Who wants some drunk monkeys? How can anything be more entertaining than that? I’ve found that one of the best ways to kill an otherwise interesting scene is to place it somewhere boring. If you want your players to remember something, have it happen somewhere that will stick in their heads. With that in mind, I’m going to start a new “series” of posts based around creating fun, interesting environments to for DMs to set their adventures in. Fun, memorable gameplay should always be the goal, and I’m hoping these will provide inspiration to help make that possible. in other news, I’ve been a little busy with something none D&D related: A small video game project! I’ve dabbled with game design for some time, and mostly just make little projects for myself to enjoy as a side-hobby, but I’ve put together a small project demo to give out to friends because some had showed interest. I know it isn’t something that really “fits” on this blog, but if anyone is interested in having a look at it then let me know. The theme, believe it or not, is post-zombie apocalypse slice of life, so…yeah. Thats a thing I did. Anyway, as always questions and comments are welcome. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Monster: Amberleaf Pseudodragon (CR 1/4, Tiny Dragon)
The Amberleaf is a woodland twist on the classic pseudodragon, a timid little autumn spirit that relies on its camouflage, subtle druidic magic, and soporific spores to stay safe. They awaken when the air cools, glide through orchards and forests, and then slip into deep rest once spring returns. Due to this cycle, they make unusual companions. Their seasonal bond makes them especially well-suited to nature-oriented characters, such as druids, rangers, or nature clerics.

Lichen Queen – Tiny plant, lawful evil
The lichen queen claims her realm deeply burrowed into the thick forests that separate the sunny meadows from the frost-plagued plains. Defined by a macabre dance of life and death, it rots and grows alike. Her reign is said to be like the winter itself. It is harsh and cruel yet just – those who find the strength to withstand its hardship are rewarded; those who fail her will perish.

Sleepy Stuff – Medium fey, chaotic good
Just as wonderfully eccentric as its garment, so is the sleepy stuff’s whole existence. Once it was an actual bear but in a sudden flash of intelligence it gained the consciousness of a cunning yet overly tired wizard. So, in the truest sense of the word, the sleepy stuff is almost always…sleepy. In all its genuine desire to do good, it is far too drowsy to get up, far too weary to set out and far too dreamy to cast the many spells it knows. It likes to eat though. And how could it be any different, honey is the sleepy stuff’s most favourite treat – or any dish of sweet, candied or sugary nature for that matter.
