i just wanted to let y’all know, i’ve chosen my witch name! enodia kohen.

enodia is an epithet of hekate, and kohen is my maternal grandmothers original name. her family changed it to escape anti-semitic persecution and it isn’t really acknowledged often in my family because most relatives who knew anything about that time died young. so i wanted to honor that and acknowledge it by taking it as my own.

so ill be changing from ofjaderuins to a new handle!

Craft names?

So I want to hear people’s opinions on craft names.

I think to have one would be cool and I see the benefits of having one but at the same time I feel confused.

Maybe because I have no idea what mine would be. I’ve done the numerology thing and both my name or birthdate come out to 7 so yay there’s my number. But the only name I could come up with that fits is Vici which is a name I use for video games sometimes.

Vici as in Veni, vidi, vici (I came, I saw, I conquered) which kind of fits bc my actual name means victory.

But for real I just want someone’s opinion on this whole thing.

Hey there… I’m trying to figure out a craft name! I haven’t been practicing long, but I really want to come up with one. According to my numerology, my life path number and my destiny number are both 7. Here are my ideas so far… It would mean a lot if anyone can either help me come up with a different one or help me choose from the ones I have. I have a pull to all of these, so it’s becoming hard to narrow it down.

Hey thank you for visiting my blog and that’s a really good question so, I hope that I can give you the information you’re looking for. Actually, this may be a good opportunity for me to explain what a magickal name is for others who may not know. Hope you don’t mind that!

So, Magickal names (or Witch/Craft names) are important for a lot of people, because they serve as a form of protection. Once you find your name it just gives you a sense of power and makes you feel more connected to your practice; it’s a rebirth of self. By finding a magickal name you are removing the ties to your old self and adding a part to your new self and some witches (like me) may even have two; one for private use (spellwork and such) and another for online forums (you may see me sign some things off as AstralCat before, which is the name I share publically) but, keep it mind that it isn’t necessary to have one, you can keep your own birth name too if you don’t want one at all. How do you get one? There are a couple of different ways…

You can simply choose one yourself based on the things you are connected to. Like the God(s) and Goddess(es), areas of magick, herbs, crystals and more. Whatever you’re drawn to, mix and match. Just make sure it has a meaning to you and isn’t just aesthetically pleasing, you will get no real connection from choosing a name that way. 

If you are part of a Coven, your High Priest/ess(es) will name you either upon immediate initiation while there are others who may require you to wait a traditional year and a day to really find what you are connected to.

You can meditate on it and ask your Guides/Angels/Higher Powers to introduce you to this magickal soul name and take what Spirit gives you.

 Last but, not least is probably the most confusing and that is by matching it up with your birth number (aka lifepath or destiny number) so that everything aligns to the moment you were truly manifested into this existence (aka your birth/name day). This is super confusing not just to do but, also to explain. I’ve sat here for the last 15 minutes typing and deleting because maths is not my strong point so, teaching it is even worse haha.
