“A Little Fall of Rain,” London, 2016. Eva Noblezada as Éponine, Craig Mather as Marius.

Eva sings with all the requisite sweetness, tenderness and joy, conveying subtle desperation at the beginning and with her voice steadily weakening at the end, yet without overplaying her physical pain. Craig compliments her perfectly with his gentle concern and caring, and though he only sobs a little bit at the end, not uncontrollably as in his 2012-13 stint in the role, his grief is still touching. A sweetly poignant rendition from both of them.
