2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
his relationships with people. i want to know more in depth about him, i won't lie, i would love the full scoop on him and mags, him and annie, him and johanna. but there are bits and pieces that come in through the narrative that i thoroughly enjoy. i also enjoy the bits of him and katniss in 13 that they don't show you in the films. i just like how he relates to people differently. OH MAN ALSO FINNICK AND PEETA especially in mockingjay. damn. i have feelings.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
i have like half thoughts about like the relationships i stated previously. the bits you don't see bc they predate canon. like i have thoughts but idk if they make sense in order to be a headcanon. what a lame answer lmao.
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
so tumblr definitely influenced me reading the hunger games before the first movie came out and so then naturally *insert popular blondish guy in 2012* influenced how i pictured finnick when it came to catching fire. i can actually still remember my favorite fancast for him. anyway. not going there that's not the question acey. so my first impression of him was basically the same as katniss, he's attractive sure but potential enemy. but at the same time i was like well if he's so popular he can't be that bad (yes i'm naive) so i was secretly being like "katniss pls. be his friend" but over the course of catching fire and mockingjay you get to know finnick, ofc, so i fell in love with him. and then that thing happens in mockingjay and i just. the first time i read the books i was sobbing. even tho i think i knew it was coming bc someone spoiled finnick and prim for me. i just reread the series for the first time since the initial read in 2012 like probably some time in fall 2023? i honestly don't remember and i can't tell you like my thoughts on it bc i read it so fast. and i have the memory of a child. but anyway i love finnick odair and i love that he was not this hot suave guy but actually a really broken individual and it shows just how much of the games is an act. and that as victors they should have never been put back in the games bc of how easily broken they can become.
