The Crazy Life
Chapter 2 - Blood in the Alley
EZ fell over, crushed by the weight of the officer that was creeping up behind him. His brother, Sisqo, put two bullets through his head, shooting straight past EZ's own head.
"Hurry up, we got pinche jura[ Fucking cops] coming from all over," yelled Memo from a few feet away behind cover. He's the reason they're all there. He set up this damned drug deal.
Chuey and Memo make eye contact and nod to each other in agreement. Almost in sync, they both move for cover and start shooting at the cops, pushing them back. EZ scans the warehouse looking for their best way out. He has to get them out of there as quickly as possible if they plan to get away alive and stay out of jail.
Images of his younger brother's dead body fill his mind once again. He shakes it off and takes the lead. I'm not going to die! I'm not going to lose another brother! He yells at Sisqo to help him get the officer off of him but there's no reply, there's no help, just the sound of bullets going off in the distance.
EZ had to wiggle his way out from underneath the overweight officer that fell over him. That's when he noticed it. The blood. His blood. A pool of blood big enough to fill a glass of wine underneath Sisqo's torso. His face was losing color, his eyes were fading. EZ swallowed hard and gather up his composure.
"He's hit, he's hit. We have to go, we have to get him out!" yelled EZ desperately to the others.
"Wha...at happ...ened? Where we...re you?" asked Sisqo with what little energy he still held on to.
"We had to get more cuetes[ guns] so we could come get you guys" answered Chuey, with clear guilt in his voice, as he and Memo put their arms around Sisqo to carry him back to the car.
"You cover us, we'll get him to the car," ordered Memo to EZ, who nodded in agreement. EZ grabbed his semi-automatic guns and started firing away in the direction of the cops. He wasn't even looking to see if he hit anything, he just needed to buy them enough time to get to the car.
EZ ran to catch up to them at the car. They had placed Sisqo in the back seat so he joined him there while Chuey drove the car and Memo took the passenger seat with Chuey's shotgun, ready to blast anyone that got in their way.
Chuey floored the gas pedal, making the tires burn and shriek as they made their way out of the warehouse and through the alleyway while two cop cars followed close by.
The cop cars were slowly gaining on them. Chuey kept going, trying to make his way out to the main street. A fleet of cop cars was waiting for them two blocks ahead. Chuey noticed the road block ahead and made a sharp right turn into a small side street.
This maneuver only saved them momentarily, as two cop cars were still on their tracks. The police officer driving the cop car closest to them took hold of his gun with his left hand and stuck it out the window aiming it at the wheels.
Chuey started swerving from side to side in hopes that it would make the car a difficult target to hit.
"Goddamn it Chuey, stop swerving, we can't fucking shoot either if you keep moving the car like that!" ordered Memo as his hand reached for the steering wheel in an attempt to keep Chuey moving straight.
"OK Memo, I got it. Just make sure you make them shots count."
"Just hurry up man! Sisqo looks like he's gonna pass out soon. We need to take him to my house, Yareli will save him." Yelled EZ before he stuck half his body out the window and started firing ruthlessly at the cop car. The sound of the bullets shattering the windows followed by the intense sound of the metal grinding against a building let everyone in the car know that EZ had hit his target.
The second cop car successfully evaded the out of control car in front of it, but lost speed doing so. The police officer had no choice but to floor the gas pedal and attempt to catch up to Chuey's car. Chuey saw the car creeping up and told EZ to take down the car like he did the first.
Just as EZ was about to take his body outside the car, the police car slammed against the side of their car, rattling everyone inside. Chuey lost control of the car and had to let go of the accelerator to regain some control.
The cop car was right beside them now and was getting ready to slam them one last time. Just as the car was getting ready to slam into them, Memo grabbed the shotgun and blasted the driver's side window. Blood splattered and what remained of the windshield was painted red.
"Stay with me, keep your eyes open." Said EZ as he looked at his brother, not knowing if he was actually gonna make it or not. "Chuey, you have to step on it, Sisqo doesn't look good at all."
Sisqo's face resembled snow, his forehead was glistening from his body's perspiration, and his body temperature had dropped significantly. Memo looked back from his seat and the moment his eyes laid on Sisqo he knew that was it. He looked like death itself already. They were at least twenty minutes away from EZ and Yareli's house. Memo grabbed his cell and called Yareli.
"Come on Yari, pick up your phone." The line kept ringing but no answer.
"What's wrong Memo? Where's Ezequiel? Is he OK? Are any of you..." blurted out Yareli at a speed of one thousand words a minute before Memo cut her off.
"Calm down, breathe. Damn! I don't know how you're a nurse when you're always freaking out like that."
"Fuck you! Just tell me what's wrong."
"Sisqo's been shot, I think he's going into shock. You need to meet us somewhere we ain't boutta make it to your house in time."
"He needs a doctor, I won't be able to do much, I can take care of the bullet but he needs a blood transfusion. You have to take him to the hospital right now. How's Ezequiel, is he hurt?"
"If we take him to the hospital we're all gonna get arrested. Don't you understand that?"
"If you don't take him there, he's gonna die! Do YOU understand that?"
Memo hung up the phone and controlled his desire to throw it and shatter it into a million pieces. "Yari said she can't help. We need to take him to the hospital. We need to make a choice. Right now!"

Some lives only end three ways. The grave. The hospital. Or prison. Ezequiel "EZ" never thought he'd make it out-but he never thought he'd l
As Life Spins Me Around
Like a Disney merry go round
Never nauseous, my soul stays anchored to the ground
I effortlessly flow into situations that have the ability to take me alive
My intuition speaks to me, protecting the soul from which I derive
Under water at times, I manage to stay afloat
Divinely protected, nearby there always seems to be a lifeboat
Not easily drowned, the resilience I’ve forged is my paddle
Flowing through experiences most could never handle
Even when the rainstorm pulls me under,
I resurface, breathe, then become the thunder
Following lightening, my spirit is pulled to follow risk
Unbroken from years of damage I continually attempt to fix
Never chasing that life, I somehow enter it with a simple taste of its tease
Just As the wind creeps through cracks in our home with ease
I watch devastating hurricanes pass by
Hitting those closest to me, yet I can’t cry
Who is this person, how did I get here
Its magic mixed with poison keeping me ahead of my fear
Effortlessly I navigate the terrain I am placed on
My magic lies within my disposition to remain calm
Anna of the North has this album called Crazy Life that I've been listening to lately. It's an indie pop record with 11 tracks, but I'm focusing on the ones that have official videos on her youtube channel.
The whole album reminds me of songs from the '90s or 2000s, simpler in production, not too noisy, yet immersive. It has a nostalgic vibe that's also catchy and each video brings the emotions of the songs to life.

# 1 Anna of the North - I Do You
"I Do You" hits with this intense but calm emotion, the feeling of loving someone you're supposed to leave behind. The lyrics show that inner struggle without feeling desperate and the video shows her stuck in a monotonous, autopilot routine. To me, it's a mix of affection and stagnation, of love and the difficulty of letting go and moving forward.

“Anxiety has been kicking my butt all day. I’m jittery and jumpy for like NO REASON!”
“I started the day all happy and hyper. Then, I went outside and immediately after goin’ outside I was hit with a JOLT of anxiety that I can’t seem to shake. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT!?”
“I have been advised by Simon to just write down all my crazy random thoughts and feelings. It might help relieve some of the stress buildup.”
“So, here goes…”
“I’m definitely procrastinating on chapter 6 of the big fic, but that’s okay because not rushing is the best. I’m not beating myself up about not getting it done either! Yay! I was supposed to relax today, but I jam packed the day full of too much stuff. I’m starting to wonder if high dopamine flips me into high anxiety, in which case I may have to forbid myself from getting excited about my accomplishments and having fun. I really hope it doesn’t come to that. Also, I can’t stop thinking about going to the arcade, but I don’t want to put it on my schedule and then have something else come up. Because then I’ll get disappointed and probably turn into an emotion bomb, you know, like that one trait from The Sims: Get Famous. Oof. Famous. I still haven’t worked out what I’m gonna do about my rockstar life. It seems less and less appealing each day and I hate that it’s true, but I am considering a break from it. A LONG break. I gotta recalibrate and adjust my…bearings or whatever. I’m so tired and I want to have more me time to get to know all the fun little autistic quirks that keep popping up unexpectedly. Jeanette says I’m unmasking and I say “MAKE IT STOP!” Anyway, yeah, I think I feel better now that all the biggest thoughts are typed out. Sorry for the giant wall of text!”
