Hey creative friends! I need some advice.
Do you ever have moments when everything you make feels so shallow and pointless? I feel like everything I'm writing is terrible.
Individual sections are fine, but it all seems to lack something when I put it together. I've written and deleted more words in the last month than I ever have before and I'm starting to suspect that there's something else going on.
Does anyone have experience with this, or maybe some advice on how you steered out of the skid?
so close, yet so faraway.
it feels like a reflex to sit back and be a backstory.
to feel so close yet so faraway.
to wander around the mysteries of the unknown only to stop and look around.
sometimes looking around can feel like trouble.
to go back to old patterns. to feel like a backstory.
to feel like the gap wouldn’t ever be bridged, but we’re working on it.
and honestly, sometimes we gotta take a few steps back to propel forward. to take the leap of faith.
so if this is my leap, i know there are open arms to catch me. to pull me up and pull me close. if this is my leap, i know we’ve got each other.
and my love, if you’re already feeling it, i’d say we’re taking the leap. i’m ready when you are.
FANNY FOX
DAY 8 3D MODELING AND I HAVE FINISHED HER.
I AM SO PROUD SHE TURNED OUT AWESOME!!
So apparently, texture painting is wayyy easier to set up than I thought I'd be, and it made this character like actually look like her reference image instead of just being a character inspired by the design
The references:
Overall, I definitely still have stuff I need to improve on in later projects. But I think for my first fully handmade, unwrapped, and textured model, she turned out awesome!!
Maybe if I learn more about HDRIs, I can make my own lighting too! Idk skies the limit at this point. I feel unstoppable in my creative pursuits!
Ok, thanks for reading bye bye have good day!
Do you do any other creative pursuit(s) besides writing?
I draw some and so some embroidery occasionally <3
I did a thing.
I signed up for the flash fiction challenge to push myself into writing more and working on my creative hobbies.
It's been hard because I barely have the energy to do anything these days, but deadlines make me do shit.
Can't post the story yet until after it's been reviewed (end July) so here is a teaser.
My prompts were: political satire, a panic room, a coffee pot.
Not at all anywhere close to my usual writing, but here it is!
more miniatures
I had no idea what I was doing the entire time, but I sorta made a couch. Also sewed together a tiny throw pillow and almost lost my mind closing it with a ladder stitch after stuffing.
Leave a decent seam allowance even in miniature sewing, kids!
First...I am NOT an artist.
I don’t draw well, but I can paint relatively well, and I throw the HELL out of some pottery.
But I’m also a writer...and I constantly crave validation for my work. It’s what keeps me going. It’s what pushes me to write more. Validation in the form of comments and kudos on one of my fics makes me want to write everything.
Today, some friends and I were chatting about our fics, and how validating comments compels is to write more, and one of them said, “I need them to put Compliment Couins in the Validation Machine...Then I can give them more!”
And I couldn’t get the image out of my head. So I spent 2 hours creating this goofy little piece of art. Because it’s true.
If you’re reading a fic someone has written, leave them a comment, even if it’s just one word, or you just say, “I enjoyed this.”
It’s so important to us. Especially since we spend great quantities of time writing our hearts out.
Drop a Compliment Coin in our Validation Machine and select a phrase! We’ll love it. I promise!
