Father Knows Best!

Thank you for the parody that inspires this

Virgil looks out of the basement door, watching as Roman, Logan, and Patton all interact with Thomas. They all looked like they were having such fun, which Virgil wanted to be a part of. But the door squeaked and all four of them looked towards the cracked open door.
"Hello?" Thomas says, as Virgil hid in the shadows. "You don't have to be afraid, we won't hurt you."
"Thomas, I do not believe that anything or anyone is down there. It is only us four in the house."
"Logan's right kiddo. If something or someone was living down there, we'd know already."
Virgil shivers at the sounds of Patton's voice. He was visiting Virgil tonight, like he did every other day.
"That is true, Thomas. It was probably just a draft coming from downstairs that pushed the door open."
-*-*-*-*-*-
The sound of the basement door creaking close is what made Virgil turn from the stove.
"What were you thinking today, son?" Patton says. "You could've been seen!"
"And I was careful, dad!" Virgil replies, turning off the stove. "I just want to be part of the family and have fun with the rest of you..."
"You want to be part of the family? Why, Virgil." Patton steps closer, brushing Virgil's bangs back out of his eyes. "Look at you, as fragile as a flower. Still just a small idea, just a thought."
Patton tilts Virgil's head up towards him, just so their eyes meet. "You know why you stay away from them, dear."
"I know, but-" Virgil attempts.
"That's right. To keep them safe from you, son."
Patton sighs, turning to hold onto the table chair. "Guess I knew this day was coming. Knew that you would want to join the fun! Soon, but not yet."
"But-!" Virgil tries again.
"Shhh." Patton says, holding a finger up to Virgil's lips. "Trust me, pet. Father Knows Best!"
Patton laughs in the chilled basement, twirling Virgil into the chair.
"Father Knows Best. Listen to your father. It's a dreadful world out there." Patton says, pulling up a chair across from Virgil. "Father Knows Best. One way or another, you'll make do wrong, I swear!"
"Nonspecific worries, unneeded presences, self-hatred, lacj of motivation, the attacks."
"No!" Virgil says, knowing his panic attacks caused some harm.
"Yes!" Was all Virgil got.
"Also, no one wants you. All you do is upset Thomas, and, oh dear, no one really loves you!"
Patton moves and kneels right next to Virgil. "But father's right here. Father will protect you. Son, here's what I suggest!"
Patton leads Virgil to stand. "Skip, the drama, stay with papa. Father! Knows Best." He squeezes his hands on Virgil's shoulders. With a sigh, he turns and sits in the chair.
"Go ahead, get your heart trampled on by an idiot.. Let him throw it away like it is trash!" Patton leans his elbows on,the table. "Me? I'm just you're father, what'd I know? I only cared, and loved, and encouraged you.."
Patton pauses as Virgil tentatively lays a hand on his shoulder.
"Go ahead and leave me, I deserve it! Just let me die alone here, be my guest! When it's too late, you'll see, just wait. Father Knows Best!"
Patton pulls Virgil close, sitting him in the seat next to him.
"Father Knows Best. Take it from your popsy! On your own, you won't survive!"
"Anxious, undressed." Patton points at his hands and pills at the end of his holey shirt. "Sarcastic, hated. Please, you'd be eaten alive! Pessimistic, naive, and certainly a monster. Gullible and a bit, well, evil. Plus, I believe, kinda an imposter."
Patton throws his arms around Virgil in a warm hug. "I'm just saying, cause I 'love' you."
He keeps an arm around Virgil's shoulders as he continues. "Father understands! Fathers here to help you. All I have is one request!"
Virgil was looking down at the floor at this point, keeping from interrupting Patton again.
"Virgil?"
"Yes?"
"Don't ever try to join the family again."
"Yes, dad..." Virgil bites his lip.
Patton smirks, knowing that Virgil has given up trying to join the family... For now.
"I love you very much, son."
"I love you more."
"I love you most." Patton says, kissing Virgil's forehead.
He grabs a blanket and leads Virgil over to the bed. "Don't forget it. You'll regret it." He says, tucking Virgil in. "Father Knows Best."
Patton leaves, closing the door after him. Then disappears away to his room.
At that moment, though, Roman happened to be watching. His eyes stay transfixed on the door, wondering why Patton was down there.
"What are you hiding, Patton?" He says, standing outside the door.

Roman smiles as Virgil giggles at his joke. Patton stood at the stove, simmering like the water for spaghetti. Virgil didn’t seem to get it, that her only hurt them all more that before. At least that’s how Patton saw it. The other three were glad to know Virgil, and that he could now help with the videos and expand their family.
“Dinner’s ready!”
-*-*-*-*-*-
Virgil sighed happily as he closed his bedroom door, finally out of the basement.
“Hello, son.”
“Hi, dad.” Virgil replies, looking at Patton, who sat at the desk. “I think…. I think Roman likes me.” Virgil continues with a soft, nervous laugh.
“Likes you?!” Patton says, standing. “Please, Virgil, that’s demented. This is why you never should have tried! Boy, this whole romance that you’ve imagined just proves that you are too stupid to be here!”
Virgil was taken back by Patton’s outburst. “Da-”
“Why would he like you? Come on now, really. Look at you.” He says, taking Virgil hands in his. “I’d say he’s hardly impressed!”
Patton opens his arms in a hug and smiles warmly. “Don’t be batty, stay with daddy. Father-!”
“No!” Virgil cried, stepping back from Patton.
Patton’s arms dropped to his sides as his smiles turned to a frown.
“No? Oh, I see. Virgil knows best. Virgil’s so mature now. Such a clever grown up missssssstake. Virgil knows best.” Patton says, harm going in with his words. “Fine, if you’re so sure, now. Go ahead and give him this.”
Patton vaguely gestures towards Virgil, who was clutching his sweater. “That’s why he’s here! Don’t let him deceive you. Give him what he wants, you’ll see! Trust me, my dear.” Patton snaps and appears again behind Virgil. “That’s how fast he’ll leave! I won’t say, I told you!”
Virgil turns and Patton gestures towards him again. “But, no! Virgil knows best! So, if he’s such a Prince Charming, go and put him to the test!”
Patton puts his hand on the doorknob as Virgil struggles to find words. “If he’s lying, don’t come crying!” He opens the door, stepping out. “Father Knows Best!”
The door slams shut again as Virgil slumps on his bed.
“God, what if he’s right?” Virgil mutters, hiding his hands in his sweater. “Roman is probably just talking with me to make sure that I don’t cause Thomas more harm…” He could never really love me….“
What Virgil didn’t know was that, Roman was listening from his closet when he saw Patton sitting on Virgil’s bed. What he saw broke his heart as he disappear back to his room.

DAY 11: Write a Spell
@30daymagicroots So today is a bit of a creativity charm.
This is a simple creativity spell meant to give you a boost when you feel your creativity running out in the middle of a project, especially long projects that have a tendency to be very draining.
Need: - A yellow something (I will be using a yellow ribbon, but you can use string, yarn or pretty much anything else that can be tied including a strip of fabric if that is what you have) - Something to represent your art form (if I'm working on a painting I might use a spare paintbrush. If I'm working on graphite then a pencil, etc) - A small bowl (preferably in a metallic color but it really doesn't matter. I just like working with metallics)
Steps:
1: Gather all your supplies. Set up any music that you may want; dim the lights slightly if you want. (I prefer working magic in dim lighting.) 2: Pick up the art tool and charge it with yellow energy while thinking about your own brand of creativity. The point of this is to create a sort of link between it and your creativity. 3: Take up the yellow ribbon. Charge the ribbon to act as a magnet. 4: Tie the ribbon around the tool; visualize the "magnet" pulling more creativity to the tool (ie: you). 5: Take your charm and place it in the bowl and put it near your workspace. (The bowl is really just to keep it somewhere and out of the way. If you think it will be okay, you can skip that.)
The Dangers of Creative Hobbies
The Dangers of Creative Hobbies
Having creative hobbies sometimes feels like walking on a thin rope, between two buildings, 100 feet above the ground. One misstep and you’re falling down. Can you relate to that? Because I can. Let me elaborate a little on that statement.
Most of my hobbies are considered creative; I love to draw, to photograph, to edit and to write. Now don’t get me wrong after reading this blog post, because I…
