kotlc only universe where a teenager can willingly join a terrorist organization, break into school, blow up a part of the school, and somehow still be allowed to attend again later
i do think it is a bit sus that so many die-hard sokeefe stans are also sophie haters at the same time. because like. that just shows that they’re not actually fans of sokeefe. they just like keefe, and the fact that sophie is the main character means that she obviously has to choose him because that proves to these people that their favorite guy is superior to fitz or whatever the fuck they want to claim. they do not actually care about sophie, which is weird considering she is half of this ship. they only want her to end up with keefe because keefe likes her, and since he’s everyone’s favorite he obviously “deserves” to get what he wants right????
i know it’s most likely that shannon added the whole “all elves can automatically understand the enlightened language” thing to easily explain how an english-speaking girl like sophie could interact with her fellow elves without having to reveal her polyglot ability too early, but i personally like to believe that all elves have a small amount of polyglot genes in them, and that’s why they can do this (and i beg people to realize that just because these guys can talk from birth does not mean they are fully making sense. they still need to learn how to use their mouth muscles properly, especially because i’m assuming that like humans they’re not born with many teeth. and they’re not going to know what every word means right away. they still have to learn things 💔 it’s not like they’re spitting shakespeare lines from birth with perfect clarity)
this would also tie in well with the fact that polyglot is the most common ability to have if you have two abilities. most polyglots develop a second ability, which would make sense if it was already a part of their genetic structure before manifesting (in this case, the change in elves’ cells that apparently happens when they manifest would occasionally cause their polyglot gene to mutate into a full ability spanning all languages). & apparently there are very few polyglots who don’t develop a second ability, which only emphasizes this imo
my favorite fandom posts are the ones that are like. “ummmmm am i the only one who thinks *thing that is heavily implied or even outright explicitly stated in the story to be a bad thing* is problematic??? 🫤🫤🫤”

listen guys. the color green in kotlc is specifically supposed to be color of LIFE. sure, sophie describes it as being the color of death ONCE in stellarlune, but let’s be real that book was kind of a mess anyway and i don’t think one internal comment from a teenager who didn’t grow up in elvin culture should mean we should disregard the interesting worldbuilding aspects of the previously established lore.
so no, i don’t think emo elves would wear green specifically. they wear green to funerals because they’re celebrating the dead person’s LIFE (and also presumably the growth of their wanderling)
like it’s explicitly supposed to have a positive connotation in this setting. they’ve become one with nature or whatever. wearing a color that represents life would likely not be considered emo i fear (especially because green itself can be such a bright and lively color)
(also you have to take into account how rare death is in the lost cities and therefore how few funerals a person would actually end up going to. i don’t think there’s enough instances of this for the whole green-means-emo thing to ever actually take off in the first place)
shannon messenger at least once every book if not more for no seemingly significant reason: hey did you know that oralie and kenric were in love. they were in love btw. yeah it’s true. just in case you forgot. the guy oralie was in love with is dead which is so so sad :( they were doomed tragic star-crossed lovers who could never be together despite the fact that they were literally in love :(( they would have had to quit their evil government jobs otherwise :((( yeah it’s really sad. just wanted to let you know that they were in love btw.
