one of the things i think i'll never get over (everything!!!) is when anne kisses gilbert and he responds with 500% more passion, like this is it, now he KNOWS, now he CAN be as in love & ardent as his heart desires, she is his and he is hers and they belong together and he never wants to let her go holy mama

This though! Listen, I’ve watched that scene (in video and gif form) more times than I’d like to admit. But here’s what I noticed about them individually in that moment.

Kissing, feeling attraction, and receiving romantic love is incredibly foreign to Anne. You can tell she’s so happy, but she’s also slightly hesitant to believe that it’s all true. She’s not quite as bold, and doesn’t take what she wants initially. She just lets herself be moved when he presses into her.  By the second and third kiss, we see her shed her shyness just a little bit, but her focus seems to be on just staying alive in that moment.

Gilbert is a bit different because he’s witnessed a lot of romantic love in his own household, and has cared for Anne for so long that he’s comfortable with it. He welcomes the intensity and the genuineness of his love for Anne. What he’s uncertain about is whether or not she returns it - he really expects her not to, but Diana has given him hope. So his first kiss is hesitant, but you can get hints of This is how I really feel about you and This may be the last time I can do this, I’m making it a good one. As soon as Anne kisses him, though, he’s a shaken bottle that has finally been uncapped. He realizes that she does care for him, and it’s everything everything everything he’s wanted for so long. He doesn’t have to hold back. His eyebrows crease because he’s so intent on letting himself love her the way he wants to. Then the bell rings, and reality settles back in.

been a while since I made that set but here’s the trick to “HD” gifs:

1. get a high quality source - 1080p+ BluRay is good, 720p YouTube is bad. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP!11 2. capture the frames with KMPlayer or a similar program that can capture without losing quality (”import > video frames to layers” works too but is annoying to work with) 3. Use proper dimensions 4. Use Smart Sharpen 5. I use these settings most of the time:

You can lower the Colors value or add Lossy if you want to lower the filesize without destroying the quality too much. I only lower colors since Lossy is generally more noticeable.

all the rest aside, clark DID NOT have to slap bellamy in 5x09. like, that gesture wasn't needed AT ALL to add the drama and highlight her feeling of betrayal. etc. the way she just shook her head in disbelief and pain was more than enough imo. i guess they just needed to increase the 'oh no she hates him now' + 'she's an emotional over-the-top mother person now' takeaway but... oh well.

Her face when she initially walked in the room and also when she walked in was MORE than enough to show us that she felt betrayed but they just had to go that extra step (and then the additional extra step of having her leave him to die) to show us just how much of a “mother” she is now. And I’m TIRED.
