Every so often, an embarrassing memory drifts back to me uninvited. My face reacts before I can stop it, scrunching, twisting, moving in a manner that is not humanly possible.

And somewhere inside, a tiny scream winds itself up, taps politely on my throat, and then settles back down when my teeth decide that now is not the time to squeal.

I wish my memory was worse.

I started rereading the DC run of MotU and-

…did- did He-Man and Co. slaughter an entire village?

After Adam and Teela are captured by the brainwashed Man-at-Arms and some jungle natives, they are taken to the jungle natives’ village which is being ruled by Evil-Lyn.

You can see multiple stone structures as well as smaller grass-topped buildings. I’m not sure how well this comic frame will show up in Tumblr, but there are also people walking around the village.

This is not a military encampment.

This is a thriving settlement with people living there who probably have families, children, and pets.

It just happens to also be where a main villain has set up her base.

Anyway, after a bunch of plot happens- Teela and Adam escape, they find the Power Sword, Adam becomes He-Man, Man-at-Arms gets cleaned out of the brainwashing and rejoins the “heroes” -they go back to that village.

Evil-Lyn come out of her castle and sees this sight.

The village is burning.

Man-at-Arms is dragging a body by the scalp.

Battle Cat is chomping down on another guy.

And He-Man’s sword is covered in blood.

That’s actually a big deal because prior to DC being handed the franchise, He-Man had never actually killed anyone before.

But DC was all like nah nah nah, we’re gonna make our hero slaughter civilians and be a war criminal! Bitches love war criminals!
