In this time of COVID, what was certain is now uncertain, what was safe is now unsafe, what was abnormal is now normal. Streets are eerily empty. The soul of the city has gone dormant. People are sheltering inside calling it quarantine and distance is growing. In certain areas, communities sing out in song through their windows in to vapid valleys of concrete. And even when the sun comes out, shines brightly on they gray concrete there is an emptiness there where once a sharply dressed "Harlemite" would quickly dance across the "dance floor", aka the sidewalk, to get to the "dj booth" known as the subway. The city known for some of the baddest gangsters, the freshest dope dealers, the hottest chics, the craziest artists, the slickest rappers, the dopest of all dopeness has been silenced by the real illmatic known by it's street name "Corona". Funny how this silent killer has the same name as of the illest places in the Boogie Down. If you have to ask, you've never been. "Corona" came through like gang busters and before I could really wrap my mind around this being 2020, the year I turn 50, I began praying to live, to survive, to see the next half century. I will. I have it on good authority. So I wait. Wait for the heartbeat to throb again. Wait for the bustle to vibrate again. Wait for the sizzle to pop again. And it will. This time there will be a greater appreciation of it for everyone, especially me. If you feel sorry, sad, down, depressed or any type of negativity while reading this, know that is coming from you. These are just digital images dancing across your handheld computer, aka your smartphone. And these words can only evoke the emotions you have available or maybe even have chosen to ignore. Enjoy all of it. Enjoy the sad days where you wonder what is next. Enjoy the restlessness of wanting to get out. Enjoy the joy you feel when your favorite goes live and hits you off with an unexpected show. Enjoy the solitude of your "Quarantine" and get to know you again. For me, this is the start to something new and I am loving every moment. #crisisover #newbeginnings #cleanslate #newchapters #newlife #mynewlife #mylivinglife #newlove #letsgo (at Dat Damn Palace) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-YrqAJBu1z/?igshid=1hhctbsx7hk2r
