Bell Hooks is one of my favourite feminist writers. She has an amazing way of breaking down complex ideas into easy to understand truths. Racism will not be solved by blacking out your feed, but by educating, understanding, and ultimately by enacting empathy. Educate those around you by offering critical points of view; understand and listen to those who are screaming for justice; and show empathy to the people who don’t understand the message. There is a lot more at play than just racism. What is being protested is a whole corrupt system that has been created and upheld by white supremacy, (which is not a white person problem, but rather a system of oppression).
