Text update for you bishes that don't give a shit.
Wad up? Alright. So, I don't like to do very many of these little essay things because I don't think anyone reads or gives a shit. We are more concerned with cats. Don't worry. I like cats a lot. I want to blab about my recent Whitman readings. This is more therapeutic than me making a point. Everyone chill your dick. Important Note: please read Crossing Brooklyn Ferry stoned.
"It avails not, neither time or place—instance avails not, I am with you, you men and women of a generation, or ever so many generations hence, I project myself—also I return—I am with you, and know how it is."
That quote is from Whitman's Crossing Brooklyn Ferry. I believe Whitman's point regards a shared human experience. It is evident from the quotation that Whitman is with the men and women of an entire generation. This is kind of badass. Whitman is getting at the point that groups of people walk through similar stages of progression or what we call life. Therefore, periods of oppression would be walked through communicably. The pain, celebration, hardship, joy, fear, hate, love, anger, bitterness, and frustration would be passed from person to person. I like to think of it as shared between people, though.
American culture stresses the idea of independence. And the idea that people must look out for themselves. And I believe that this is true up to a point. I believe humans are a lot more dependent on each other than then they might hope. Making babies requires a penis and a vagina. Businesses are made up of people who share a common goal. The barista makes my lazy ass a coffee. AAA picks me up when my thirty-year-old car won’t start. And there must be some transfer of the parent’s emotion to one another. And there must be some emotions transferring from business people. And the barista’s care and kindness must rub off on me in some way. It must; it just must. It is sort of depressing to think that humanity relies so heavily on itself. There are people who do mess up. And an example of that would be Snooki. (I don’t know how to spell her name and I don’t care.). Just kidding. I’ve been thinking, then, that our individual actions make a difference. And that’s empowering. Sit back and chew on that for a bit. Be well and thanks for reading.
