was running around outside with my kitty and a bunch of crows were cawing nearby so i did my best crow impression towards them and???? like a HUGE FLOCK (like think around a HUNDRED of em) came flying and sat around us???circling the area n shit??and started cawing up a storm??? I'm genuinely wondering if i yelled a slur in crow lingo by accident. or maybe a verbal gang sign????? they left after like 20 mins of shouting lmao????

Side hustle the last couple years has been to befriend the neighborhood crows. There’s a murder (even their group name is intense), that hangs in the trees/yards of our area. Approximately 6-8, and I see them here and there.

So we started saving scraps, peanuts, moistened hard cat food, different things like that, and throwing it out in the yard and calling them a couple years back. They started to swing by, get food, leave. They have left several feathers, have cawed when they see us, and I’ve been trying to get closer and closer.

2 of them sat in a closer tree branch while I was outside for the first time this weekend and 2 more sat in a higher tree on the side of the house!

After I went inside the 2 closest hopped down into the yard, had a snack, and let me get right up to the front storm door 😻

It’s been really cool figuring this out. Crows are smart birds. My grandmother used to feed crows on her back porch railing and it is such a nostalgic sweetness to share this hobby. This whole journey has been such a treat.

Just a few of Jonathan's birds and their headcanons because I said so!!!

• Croward

She is a reclusive and shy bird, hates loud noises, and has the lowest voice pitch out off all the crows. Croward has a few barbwire scarring on her feet due to having been a messenger crow previously, she was not well taken care of by her previous owners.

• Nightmare

The loudest one of the bunch, is often times considered Scarecrow's right hand due to the fact that he appears in missions a lot for the "horror" effect. Nightmare has sleek feathers and likes them being well-defined.

• Cornchip

The silliest of them! He loves being pampered and has little-to-no survival instincts. Cornchip was the runt of his family that wandered off to the Scarecrow's lair by accident, only caught after Jonathan saw the little guy munching on corn.

• Ichabod

She is the oldest one, even with off grey and messy feathers she still shines. Ikky has become much more passive throughout the years since her mission to protect young Jonathan has already been completed. Ichabod was actually the only crow that never attacked him back in Granny's place, no the pair formed an uneasy alliance that later turned into a loving friendship.

• Claustrophobia

A clingy baby who loves kisses from his papa! He is the BIGGEST boy and he knows it. Claustrophobia was found stuck inside a chimney and was unable to get out due to his size, naturally Jonathan ripped the abandoned building apart just to save this sweet thing <3

• Scopophobia

She may be blind, but she sure doesn't act like it! Give it up for our girl Scopophobia everyone! Being the fully blind bird of this messy litter comes with it's struggles, but she doesn't mind it since her friends are always there to lend a wing. Whenever Scarecrow brings guests over, they are always talking about how Scopophobia keeps glaring at them.
