Were the other fae aware of the reason behind why his heartsong changed to justice? When a fae becomes king or queen, is their heartsong shared with the other fae?

A heartsong generally isn’t publicised, though some fae are pretty adept at picking up the heartsongs of others? (Augus is very good at it, though Gwyn, conversely, is very hard to read - which is how he was able to keep Surrender a secret for so long).

But ‘Justice’ was considered by Gwyn’s Inner Court to be significant enough and also inspirational enough that it was announced publically. After all, Gwyn was inducted into a Court in order to bring justice to the Nightingale and the Augus - regardless of how Gwyn felt about the heartsong, it gave the Seelie fae a lot of hope. It almost made them feel like he’d changed his heartsong specifically for the task ahead of him - which of course he hadn’t, but it worked as a public relations gimmick.

This was also still quite a toned down version of the Glashtyn.

I would argue that the Glashtyn and the Each Uisge are both on a par for being deadly. The Each Uisge is more powerful for raw power (physical strength and size), but the Glashtyn is more of a sexual sadist and fetishist (which was actually my inspiration for making Ash more sexual / needing multiple partners and more gregarious).

I would say they're both kind of just...not really someone you'd want to meet in an alleyway.

Though I do wonder if the Glashtyn is 'more of a monster' in the human sense, since he adds sexual sadism (and rape) to his hunt/stalking (which Ash has some control of) - whereas the Each Uisge doesn't feel the need to do that. But who knows!

So your comment on the sightreading post made me laugh because I also played bass clarinet and while I haven't played that piece, I understand completely.

Man, that piece was the worst... Except not, because you get super awesome solo lines even in a really big orchestra, which is cool, but like, I was playing on a borrowed instrument. And the octave key barely worked. So I had to randomly transpose things down an octave and it sounded super hinky >.<

Well, what happens directly next is Graham showing up and havoc ensuing, but /eventually/ what happens next is Graham being a dumbass, dragging Ellie with him to the place most of magical Edinburgh hangs out (to buy a locator charm), and Ellie getting temporarily cursed blind for looking at someone she shouldn't've been able to see. Because Viv is surrounded by /idiots/ XD

Oooh, the Farseer Trilogy for the fandom thing. I haven't read the Tawny Man trilogy yet.

The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb

The first character I first fell in love with: I've just realised what a stereotypical reader I am. I fell in love with the character you're supposed to fall in love with - Fitz. I loved him from the moment he was a wee little kid, soaking in the rain and snuggling up with some dogs in a kennel.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: The Fool actually. It wasn't that I didn't love him when I first met him (I did, I found him intriguing and fascinating and AWESOME), it's just that I love him so much now, that I think my care and love and compassion for him maybe extends beyond what I feel for FitzChivalry. I mean I just adore him*. (Identifying the Fool as a him because that's how he's described in the Farseer Trilogy, but they are described as a woman throughout the Liveship Trilogy. It's pretty obvious that the Fool is gendered how they want to be gendered depending on the characters they're appearing to).

The character everyone else loves that I don't: Probably Burrich. I really don't like him as a character. I think he's abusive, and I think that nothing really makes that okay; despite the extensive descriptions of how 'tough' his life has been, or how he sometimes pulls his shit together for Fitz on occasion.

The character I love that everyone else hates: I'm not sure. Who does everyone hate? Regal, obviously - and I love him as a villain; oh man do I ever love him as a villain. Regal influenced Augus in terms of mannerisms (and certainly the Nightingale). (Just as Fitz kind of influenced Gwyn). But I don't love Regal like 'you're my friend!' I love him like 'YOU ARE SUCH A GREAT VILLAIN.'

The character I'd want to be like: Kettricken is such a badass, but they all sort of get a really bad run of luck so I'm not sure which character I'd most want to be like. You know, Verity is great but he works too hard. Chivalry seems really interesting but he's a non-character. Maybe Night-Eyes, if only because he seems - at least for a while - so unconcerned with the world of humans.

The character I'd slap: ...GALEN

A pairing that I love: I am pretty hardcore Fitz/Fool as a shipper.

A pairing that I despise: Haven't actually seen any other pairings in the fandom, to be honest!
