I love that Zohran Mamdani is in practice kind of like a New York Cryptid. You see him often enough in New York, but then he’s doing these things to help the community that might seem silly for a person with so much power to do. And everyone gets so excited to see him, it builds community, and people post about it online

I keep seeing posts where people are making up kind of ridiculous stories of things that he has done to help the community, for example, like using a hairdryer to thaw the sidewalk. He’s the Florida man of New York but in the best way. This may be the closest we get to a real “mothman for president” and I’m absolutely eating it up
