Reading through old interviews and Pete said “It’s kind of the way twins have their own thing.” About the way him and ashlee communicated which is- interesting to say about your wife and also say the same about your best friend/musical partner. 🤔

SOOOO interesting, anon!!!! I feel very seen right now, tbh. I’m kind of obsessed with the patterns in p2’s words and body language and how that compares to other people in their lives. It’s quite…illuminating, tbh🤓

There’s also a stark difference between how he explained this when he’s talking about Ashlee vs. when he’s talking about Patrick.

For instance, in the interview you’re referring to, he describes the “twin speak” between him and Ashlee as “bizarre” and doesn’t paint it in an overly positive light:

There are so many examples of how couples in an intimate, connected relationship can communicate without words, and he chooses “having an argument” to illustrate how this looks in his marriage.

Whereas, when referring to this connection with Patrick, it’s playful, joyous, and serendipitous. It’s one in a million. It’s a blessing. It’s fate. They understand each other better than anyone else. Its effortless. They’re soulmates.

Pete’s reaction to Joel Madden using this word to describe them is so telling. He doesn’t try to divert it or backtrack - he immediately agrees. And when asked if they’re best friends, he smiles SO big and answers, “Definitely.” Honestly, just watch this interview from like, 13:00-17:00. Good stuff there!

None of this is new, though. They've been aware of this from the start. For instance, Patrick said this in 2007:

I also love how, as time has passed, they have been even more vocal in acknowledging this bond and what they mean to each other. The examples of this are truly endless.

To touch a bit more on your point though, anon...listen, it can easily be argued that this is totally bestie behavior, and I don't necessarily...disagree. What I will say, though, is...there really is a long-standing pattern of p2's discussions and treatments of certain people in their lives differing drastically from their discussion and treatment of each other. I think I'll leave it at that for now :)

An estimated 30-50% of twins develop a shared language or particular communication pattern that is only comprehensible to them, known as cryptophasia. The term translates directly from Greek as secret speech.

Twins Matthew and Michael Youlden speak 25 languages each. The 26th is Umeri, which they don't include in their tally.

If you've not heard of Umeri, there's good reason for that. Michael and Matthew are the only two people who speak, read and write it, having created it themselves as children.
