Crypt Trip / Haze County / 2019 / Heavy Psych Sounds Records Eine meiner Lieblingsplatten aus 2019. Blindkauf, weil ich das Cover gut fand. Ausserdem haben Heavy Psych Sounds mittlerweile echt gute Artists am Start. Neben Brant Bjork, Nebula, Mondo Generator auch unbekanntere Bands wie The Pilgrim oder auch Crypt Trip. Nach dem Country-lastigen Track "Forward" gehts mit "Hard Times" in jammiger 70-iger Southern Rock Manier gut vorwärts. Schön abwechslungsreich und groovig. Auf der Platte finden sich diese beiden Einschläge immer wieder, ohne das es langweilig wird. Als "freier" Gitarrist wurde Geoff Queen engagiert, um das Album mit der Pedal Steel zu unterstützen. Überzeugen kann das Album allerdings (jedenfalls mich) mit den schnelleren Tracks wie Hard Times, To Be Whole, Death After Life und vor allem Free Rain. Ich würde sagen das Album lässt den James Gang/Roky Erickson "Spirit" wieder aufleben. AHCTUNG #nerdattack Crypt Trip spielten 2019 auf dem Roadburn Festival. Als 70iger Souther-/Jamrock Band sicher was besonderes und irgendwie auch eine Auszeichnung für einen guten Style, finde ich. Swipe for Orange Fluo (250 copies).
