You know I do have friends who are uncomfortable with playing other genders. Just never had someone use that excuse among them. I hate when people use that as an excuse in that situation though. What about being gay makes it hard to do?

yeah i get that tbh i mean if it's just a matter of not being comfortable with playing as someone who looks so different from you but the only excuse ive been hearing from the person i was vagueposting about is that he's "too gay" and at one point he wanted his female character dressed as modestly as possible bc he's just "very very gay" and on the whole im really not getting what the gayness has to do with any of it

For those too lazy to read, let me sum it up DON’T BE A DICK TO ANYONE REGARDLESS OF RACE, BELIEF, GENDER, ETC.

here is a longish but not all-encompassing list of reasons you need to stop saying that immediately

"regardless of race, belief, gender, etc" has no business being on a post specifically about jewish people and antisemitism. neither of the two receive much exposure here even on a website that prides itself on being aware of social inequality, so a post about antisemitic behavior systemically programmed into goyim by society was absolutely required. there is no tl;dr about this, there is no "to sum it up for those who didn't read" - if you'd read it yourself you'd notice that one of the comments literally tells you not to skip a single bullet point

statements like those imply that race/gender/sexuality/faith-based discrimination and oppression work both ways. they don't.

few people honestly believe themselves to be dicks. do you believe yourself to be a dick, despite your comment being a pretty dickish one? no? then would you listen to a stranger on the internet blandly, vaguely telling you not to be a dick, since you already consider yourself a good person? this isn't to imply that you're inherently bad or that what you said was monstrous - but i need you to understand that there is such a thing as unintentional offense, and it is widespread and hurtful. and it needs to be taken responsibility for without ruining the apology with a footnote saying "i didn't mean to". again, a post specifically detailing antisemitic microaggressions and how to stop them was highly in order and dismissing that very long list of instructions with a "basically don't be a dick" was deeply trivializing and disrespectful.

i can see why you think that comment was necessary but it wasn't; it was harmful and completely derailed a sensitive issue that's been in need of some special attention for a long time now and you need to re-examine your views if they're pacifistic enough to result in that sort of thing being added to that sort of post
